Dude, you have no idea

Yeah, there are some shady/sketchy gas stations in town. The worst that generally happens is a homeless person asks you for change

Even in good neighborhoods, shit goes down. I wish it weren't the case, but you can't be complacent.
I don't even let anyone get behind me usually.. usually (power bottom)
When I go to a restaurant, I always sit with my back to the wall, eyes on the door to see people coming and going
Or pull up at a stop light.. If the car is stopped there at an adjacent lane, I pull about a fender back so I see the driver from b-pillar
Or if there are no cars, I stop a bit farther from the stop line so a car will usually pull forward of me in the adjacent lane..
If they stop toward my b-pillar.. they get my attention.. I'll creep forward and see if they do too.
Some view me as crazy, but I want my fair chance..
Dude, I do the same thing!
That's the biggest killer with the distraction of the cell phone and inability to be bored for 10 seconds...super A.D.D.
Because nobody is even looking up, someone can walk up on you easy as fk. When I first got the silver S2000, I was renting a house in an area that wasn't the best...it was so disconcerting how exposed I felt to someone just walking up and sticking a gun to the back of my head. That was the reason I got those crazy convex mirrors initially, TBH.

About the coming home...one time, driving home from a hockey game...my bro (he's bigger than me, even) and our SO's were in my TL. Driving home...no problem...I don't know what he thought but he kept very obviously cutting me off on the highway...getting in front of me and brake checking me...then when I'd try and pass he'd take off and not let me get in front of him, then when I did he'd just have high beams on my mirror...wreckless AF. Finally I got fed up...slammed on my brakes...came to a dead stop on the highway and got out in rage...then I realized I was on a highway and there were cars coming so I hopped in the car and took off. After that, the guy hung back and stayed in a different lane but got off on my exit too. Then I noticed he was turning behind us as I got closer to home.

I passed out house, asked my buddy if he wanted to get down...and drove to a well lit gas station to confront the guy...at that point, I took it as enough of an attack to really need to do something about it. I pulled into the gas station and he just took off.

So yeah, I agree...never lead them home.

Having escaped the "hardships" of Asia and then lived in Chicago...then to move to Canada. All I can say is...if you give Canadians the ability to go pew-pew-pew, believe me...they would too. Just that the laws here make it very hard to get one.

Canadianas are no better than Americans that are full-retard. Full-retard is full-retard.

And less undesirables in Canada because well, let's see...Mexicans have to get PAST the US to get to Canada. And so...they'd just go "Naw, Holmes-essay...we settle here, essay!"

Instead, Canada gets influxes of who buy up everything in Little Chinacouver. THAT'S the undesireables. And honestly, all terrorist types come from hot countries...why would they wanna freeze to death?

Statistically, there will be more "undesirables" in the USA than Canada.

So, from the high horse of Canada (mounties!), it looks like the USA is more violent.

If I lived on an island by myself, I would look at *anywhere* that wasn't my island and think that they were so very violent. Also ugly and with poor dental practices.

It's all relative. Speaking of which... as this is the end of my comment on the internet, it is now time for me to mention that you fornicate with your mother.

Thank you.
Again, you guys have no idea what you're talking about. Jeff isn't lying. There are very few places, at least around here, that I worry about. The worst is you get robbed at knife point. But that is super rare. Stuff like that makes the news here

Maj is right- there are some big social issues in the US. Canada is far from perfect. We have poor people struggling to get by. We have people with mental health issues. But Canada is also more "socialist" and we have programs and blah blah to help people. Not everyone wants it, but many do use them.

With killings here- they're generally gang related, drug related, or either the killer or victim are well known to the police. It's rare for normal folks to get mowed down. It happens from time to time. But rare.

East Hastings...not a great part of town to walk in. I can name also a few places in Toronnah and Moanrayal that are ehhhhh...

Heck, every city has it's tougher areas...BUT, they are not like South Chicago (only place I can provide a reference).

Then again, no pew-pew-pews that are easily available up here...not saying there aren't shootings though. Cuz, there are. But, guns are harder to get. I think I attribute to crime being lower in Canada because well, population is just THAT much less. People are people. Law can only do so much. Sure, it mitigates somewhat...and helps...but, while it may be harder to kill MANY people at once, if Canadians wanted to go postal without guns, they still can.

WTH are you talking about. It's not that hard to get a gun here. It's harder than down south, but again, it's not that hard. And if you can't get it legally, there are plenty of other shady ways to get one (through gangs, whatever). You live in a bubble, my friend!

Can you really say there is that much violence/death that happens here, that isn't related to drugs or gangs?

Dude...WTH are YOU talking about? I can get a gun back in the USA! USA! easier than I can get a driver's license. Is it that easy in "our" country, Canada? Heck no. I just SAID: Guns can still be obtained...BUT, it's more difficult and not as easy. In the USA, I can get a gun nearly ANYWHERE. Here, I'd actually have to whip open Google and look it up where the closest gun shop is.

And I said the reason why Canada has LESS crime is because population is less. It's just all about probabilities.

murder rate is super high up north Canada.. worry about that.. mmkay.
money.. drugs.. bravado.. you give some fool the means to have power, where they otherwise wouldn't have.. they're going to get theirs.
as long as the playing field is fair.. you have a fair chance.

Now if you try to solve the drug issue, not criminalize it..
and you try to give a helping hand to the impoverished, and not just a hand out..
and give these young kids in the community a real leader and role model to follow, not some chump rapper or athlete or local kingpin..
maybe then we might help solve the issue.
It takes the government and our communities together to help solve these issues

Yet you have these false roll models, fucked up media, fucked up judicial system that is actually a corporation. It's more expensive being poor.. it's meant to keep the poor poor. It's all a setup.
So in the least, can I get mine.. fucking politicians leading the way to ban guns, same person that is smuggling them in illegally and profiting off of it selling them to drug lords and criminal enterprises... shiett..
America is fucked up, but it's not a gun issue. I promise.

You have some great points that I completely agree with and also believe.

HOWEVER, the USA does have a gun problem. First, if you reduce the ability to EASILY procure a weapon LEGALLY, now, the full-retards need to procure guns ILLEGALLY...but, at least you've addressed ONE area. Tackle now the other area of illegal weapons.

It never was TOTAL elimination...but, heck...at least mitigation stands for something. Honestly, I have ZERO ZERO ZERO care for the dumb Second Amendment...but, if it must exist (like Apple), then at least do something to mitigate.

There's a reason people don't lock their doors here. People leave cars unlocked. People don't own firearms for protection. People apologize when they bump your car. etc. etc.

well... I think Maj was right... it's more a social issue than a gun issue. While the guns don't help those in a social bind, I don't think they're the root cause

Umm.. you do need a driver's license and a background check to buy a gun.. might even need a cooling off period..

Parts of Canada are in another universe.. but there is plenty of crime, mostly drug related though. Vancouver had a really bad heroin problem back in the 90s, shit was crazy. Tons of organized crime behind it too. My pops was right in the middle of all that. Not fun times.

Was it that fat fuck who went around and entered people's homes in Canada because they don't lock the doors.. and the homeowners were like.. Eh, good day! How can I help you?

You must live in a great part of town or city, dude.

Or maybe white people are nicer to white people. Or think that us can't speaka no Englishee...cuz, believe me, I've been given the middle finger salute for going 15 over the speed limit and that was still too slow. I've had my old CL vandalized for no reason in a grocery parking lot. My FiL's car has been hit with no note of apology. I mean, I GET that Canada may have a "close-knit" neighborhood feel...but, don't get ahead of yourself, dude...I've lived in a very VERY close Italian neighborhood in Chicago and we lived the same way. Never locked doors...never locked cars...all the kids played outside until dark happily. The block really was...a family. Visited it a couple years ago and it's still the same...

It's like that ANYWHERE where people live with accountability, respect, and morals.
