And to be honest, UC Berkeley's piano program was meh...if I had to go to Cali, I think I would've gone to USC and studied with John Perry.
But, it was the east coast skoos. We snobby.

I mean obviously you didn't end up pursuing the major because of what you're doing now, what did you end up majoring in if you don't mind me asking?

I have a bunch of no life people from HS try and go into that.
They thought they were going to be rappers so they moved to LA and or Houston.

I would have had to revoke my CA card if I couldn't spell Cal correctly

I dunno...I don't think getting into the good music schools was a big deal...the big deal was getting a scholarship.
I got full-scholarships for Oberlin and some other more lower-tier colleges for music but for piano, if I didn't want to starve or street-fight to get a job, a name-brand school had to be the route.
Ended up staying and going local skoo and taking business with IT major. As my parents would say, "SUCH SHAME." At least my sister stuck to it and got into med...but, per what I wrote above, even that's not good enough.
parents, FTW.

Wow. A bunch of dummies in ramblings.
It's ok, I was put on academic probation also, after 2nd year. I did bad. Really bad. But in my defense, it was civil engineering and all civil engineers do is party and skip class, so....
I got my shit together after that, though. But 3rd and 4th year became progressively easier. Or did I become smarter? Nah, I doubt it.

You guys will find this hard to believe, but it's true.
Yumcha was on a full scholarship at the most prestigious peanis schools. He was a prodigy, very gifted with his fingers. When he was 6 days hold he could play the entire Chopin Nocturne...
as he got older and had more contact with the outside world, he developed certain opinions on the keys.
By the time he was 16 and in his senior year of college...he refused to touch the white keys at all. It was chalked to him being avant garde/new age and manic...but in reality it was his aversion to the color. By 20, he wouldn't touch the ebony keys either...which made for very awkward concertos, especially at $200 a ticket.
These days, he can be found huddled around a fire in a steel drum...he'll play the recorder on some days...and will still wow people with his ability to xylophone...although he will only play 4 keys on that as well.
Sad.

The only thing I find hard to believe about that story is Yum being in his senior college year at 16.
We all know he was 12.
At 16 he had to retire from playing the piano due to chronic arthritis in his fingers. He discovered the fap at 14 and it was nothing but a downward spiral from there.

Johnny. I did not live that story.
I merely retold it.
Yumcha is too modest, he would have changed it.
