Bruce said PMM in aspec kit is discontinued now. $830 for the kit delivered to my door. But, then I have to pay to get it painted. I can't see spending a bunch of money on modding a car I plan to to put 20k miles on a year. It's my DD, and I drive a lot.

I don't have the equipment to be painting an aspec kit myself. I'll keep her stock. And, continue to service her well.

Just like the Boxster for Porsche (hey, nice woman Porsche you got there!), they're just trying to reel people in with more attractive prices.

It's not bad per se, it's just bad compared to their other offerings. Also I'm a Lambo guy.

Never seen one of them (or a possum even) IRL, only at the zoo and shit. I think except south of Ontario and maybe British Columbia, Canada is too cold for these critters.

Raccoons though... these fat little buggers... don't leave a trashbag out in the summer overnight.

I've never seen a raccoon in these parts. Porcupines on the other hand? Those are some big mofo's. I think their quills are capable of puncturing a tire, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen plenty of them turned into McDonald's meat on the road.

Yeah, I'm not putting a bunch of money in a car that has 83,700 miles on it, and will have 200,000 on it in less than 5 years. Hell, I've put 16,000 miles on it in 9 mths already.

For all intents and purposes, usually filling until it slightly overflows is ok, but for the sake of being proper the exact amount is 2.3 qts in the TL. Filling until it overflows just sounds like somebody not giving a shit about how much should fit in.

If you pour 2 qts and it starts overflowing, will you notice if you don't know how much you're pouring?

Damn that's a lot of driving. I was sad to see my TL about to creep on 150,000 km (~93.2K miles) until I remember I got it in July last year with 85K miles on it. Living so close to work has many perks.

I don't get your last sentence. If you only get 2 qts in, there's likely an excess of old fluid still in. If I get 2.1 qts in, I'm not going to lose my mind that I couldn't fit another 0.2 in. It's full. I'd be more concerned about the tranny not being full as opposed to having <10% old fluid still in there.

What happens if you don't get exactly 2.3 in? Likely nothing. Just fill it until it's full and it's fine.

Like changing oil. You never get all of the old shit out. The solution is dilution, lol.

I got mine last June with 67,7xx and it's now at 83,7xx. I drive 60 miles a day round trip for work. It adds up fast. But, it's all highway miles.

Honestly, just do it. You won't regret it. If you do, take it off and recoup your money. No harm done.

If you plan on driving the TL another 5 years, that's 5 years of looking at your car everyday and saying "sigh... I wish". Even if it works out to being $1500 for the kit and paint, that's 5 years of happiness you'll be getting, if not more. The fact you use and see your car so much is more of a reason to do it.

I have yet to hear a person say they bought an OEM kit and regretted spending the money. You could always buy the kit now and paint/install it next year. It'll reduce the one time hit on your pocket.

I agree, but I'm a perfectionist motherfucker. I'm using 2 qts as an example.

Still, if I told you you had 1 chance out of 10 to die on the operation table, you'd be pretty alarmed. 10% isn't nothing if your oil is old and way overdue. "Proper" tranny oil flushes incorporate a full flush, refill, flush, refill anyway.

It's good for a lot of mileage if cared for, no panic there.

It's also $1500 he might want to spend on something else, like a real estate investment or a vacay, instead of a car that drives him to work.

Well again, you don't get anywhere close to getting all the old oil out of your engine. You just dilute the old stuff with new stuff and likely get most, if not all of it out the next time.

Yes, agreed with the tranny methodology- so even if there is old stuff in there, you're gonna swish it around and likely get it out when you do flush #2 and/or #3.

Comparing it to surgery is a bit drastic- I highly doubt your tranny would fail in such a case. By flushing it twice, you likely have <5% old stuff in there.

I agree the comparison is drastic, it doesn't remove anything from the fact that blindly doing something like that is not the proper way to do it.
Putting in 2.3 qts isn't rocket science anyway, I don't see why you wouldn't pay attention for the 5 minutes it takes to put that instead of just going blindly. Poor piss excuse to cutting corners

It's not chump change for me either, but if he wanted an investment property, or the likes, Jamie would be talking about that instead. He was here considering the kit. Kit brings happiness.

No. Camber remains the same (usually what people say it changes), but it changes a lot of other stuff since you're essentially extending a lever. Check scrub radius for more information.

I still recommend "an alignment" as in a mechanic to check it. Putting wheels spacers is easy, but it means it's also easier to put weight on failing parts that someone might not be able to diagnose as failing... Your suspension/direction failing on you on the freeway isn't a good thing lol

I don't think we need to be pedantic about that haha, just saying that to him, it might not matter as much as it does to you or others.
Just like me, I'd like an A-spec kit, but don't really feel like spending $1000 on one. I don't value it at that price.

Glove box rattle is annoying the shit out of me today. Already attempted to combat it a month ago but its come back with a vengeance. Doesn't seem like its the latch either because the glove box itself is held in really tight (and I lined the frame with a foam liner in my attempt to stop the godforsaken rattle). I guess it might be the glove box frame? Ugh so goddamn frustrated

It won't cause suspension failure, lol. It may cause additional wear on already worn bushings, but that's about it. With the number of people using spacers, you don't hear of catastrophic suspension failures very often. If at all. I surely have never heard of any.

It does change the suspension geometry a bit. Not drastically. All a mechanic will do is look at the suspension to see if everything looks ok. Thoiboi can do that too.
