So I went to the auto show here on Saturday- still sucks, as per usual. They claim we have the 2nd biggest show in Canada, yet we get nothing special at the show.
Wifey and I took a look through the Acura display- I brought her to the TLX and asked for her opinions. Told her Acura phased out the TL and TSX and came up with this. She looked around it, opened the door, sat down, felt the materials, looked at the dash and gauges and finally asked "what does this go for?"
"Well, a fully optioned one will break the 50k mark. But this one, the TLX V6 Elite, is 48k before taxes"
"what did we pay for our Sonata?"
"36k, all in"
"This thing is 12k more (still add tax and delivery, etc) and looks and feels no different than the Sonata. The interior materials feel cheap. The dash looks no different than the Sonata- in fact, it looks a little emptier. There's no panoramic sunroof. No heated rear seats. The Sonata exterior is much nicer. What is the power output?"
"290hp, 267lbft."
"What does the Sonata put down?"
"274hp, 270lbft"
"yeah, no thanks. I'll keep the sonata"
And there we have it, folks. This is why Acura keeps selling low numbers.

Also, the car show was shit packed on Saturday. Please tell me how many people are actually looking at Acuras. I'll tell you right now, the majority of these people were just cutting through the Acura display to get to the others

Taco, I totally agree...
Both the Korean brands are doing very very well IMO...
If I had a 50K budget and was eyeing a 4 door car, I would def look into the Genesis Rspec over the TLX...

The sonata interior isn't anything to write home about. The materials are on the cheaper side (at least the last gen was- I can't speak of the new gen that just came out, but they seem to improve with every iteration), but the TLX wasn't anything fancy either. I'd say marginally better. Not 15k better.
I thought acurazine was the only place that didn't care for acuras (lol). Boy, was i ever wrong. Also, it's sad when the TLX and RLX are side by side and I couldn't tell them apart. I noticed one had slightly bigger headlights than the other, but from looking at the front I thought I was looking at the same car for a second. Way to differentiate.
I can't believe how expensive the optioned out TLX is up here.

Last time Oil Can Harry's and one other place came up in this thread, I elected not to google. I'll stand by that election only because I have a hunch these places are like the Blue Oyster in Police Academy

Speaking of blue oyster, my a$$h0l3 friend took me to a gay bar here in SF. "It's a bar that's open until 4am"
