I don't deal with a cold climate at all. We have different needs. I read up on this before deciding to stick with manuf spec.

ain't nothing wrong with dat! I always used to religiously stick to manufacturer specs. Only in the last 18 months or so, did i start switching the oil a bit. still makes me nervous sometimes but so far so good!

I'm honestly pretty lax about the specs TL calls for 5w20, the jug i got last time was 5w30 on sale, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Guess 5 30 is going in there..

As long as you're not deviating TOO much from the intended spec, I think you'll be okay. Plus i think it's safe to say we're all pretty meticulous compared to some others in terms of maintenance so I don't foresee any of our engines blowing up due to wrong oil.

CSB: First car was a 96 Grand Caravan with a V6. I believe it called for 10w30 but my dad always said "it's getting older, we need to put thicker oil in there" Being a HS kid, i didn't know better so went out to walmart to get some good ol' 20w50 did that for a few years and then junked the car as part of the CA high polluters trade in program and the parents got a new car...

since oil is so cheap on the market these days, buy a ton, save it, and when oil reaches $100/barrel again, sell, sell, sell!!

What do you mean it doesn't work like that?

Who wants to bet $20 that he just wanted to get new tires and came up with the story that his tires were slashed the ONE night his car was outside? No pics. Just another story

"Hey guise, I haven't whored myself in a while. Please feel sorry for me with my imaginary sob story "

I mean, I'd believe him- if he didn't have a half dozen other BS stories with zero evidence that all pertain to that one car. No one else even remotely comes close to his "bad luck"

Yeah! Like how some young punks must have broken into my house last night and they stuck the plunger in the toilet and then when I got up in the middle of the night to make crap it poked me in the bumeye and then when I tried to get up it stuck in place in the toilet and then I slipped and sat down again and then tried to get up and slipped again.

Damn punks.

So since I can't do landscaping yet, I've been itching to start a new project. Finished the ensuite bathroom, but now I'm looking to move into the attached walk-in closet.

Both the bathroom and closet are fucking tiny. The bathroom looks pretty nice now, but again, still tiny. One sink. Wifey and I always bumping into each other cuz there's no room. Bathroom is 5.5' x 8', but, the shower eats up 1/3 of the space. The toilet and vanity take up another 1/3. There's no fucking room left

Closet is retarded. It SHOULD have a sliding pocket door, but it has a normal door instead. Which means I can't ever get to my side of the closet. I've debated installing a pocket door, but right now I'm considering knocking down the wall between the closet and bathroom, and make one big bathroom. I just have to figure out what to do for our clothes.

In the mean time, I decided to improve the storage situation in the closet. Shitty home builder spec'd wire shelving, well, is shit.

Plan A: $1400 to put in a nice ikea wardrobe in the closet. Hey, it's the closet, so Idgaf about who makes the shelves. Looks awesome. Kind of expensive.

Plan B: :$460 to use ikea shelves again, however, not a specific wardrobe package, but rather, various pieces from ikea made to work with some minor carpentry skills. Would look just as nice, once done. Much cheaper.

Both plan A and B were verified to work, through autocad and some quick, to scale, drawings.

Enter Plan C: I had an old ikea wall unit, back when I still live at home. It's been sitting in our spare bedroom but wifey finally decided she wants to do something with that room and those wall unit cabinets have to go. Brilliant idea! Did some measuring, and sure enough, the four cabinets would fit perfectly in the closet and still leave plenty of clothes hanging room. Total cost? $40 for mounting hardware, to hang them off the wall. So I did it!

From $1400, down to $40. Johnny's parents would be proud.

But now it's growing. I need to spend another $40 on additional shelves (some of them were lost/damaged in the move). Now I want to spend another $25 to paint them. Yup, you can paint ikea laminated furniture. Cabinets are dark brown. Gonna make them white. All in all, $105 for a new closet setup. Fuck yeah.

I'm looking through the home drawings, as provided by the home builder when we built the place. Sketching it up on Autocad and gonna see if it is feasible to move stuff and knock walls down. Big work, but it would make us super happy, as the small closet and bathroom are our only gripes about the house.

Only one wall is considered a structural wall, and thankfully, I don't think I have to touch it. Will need to confirm though. If i do, I'll likely install a header beam and cut the fucker down.

$105, actually. I did bad maff first. So that's like a solid B, or B+ now, isn't it?

Just knock it down, if the roof collapses, you'll know it was structural

It may seem like a lot of work at first (more so if it's structural), but i think with all the extra room, you'll be plenty glad you went for it.

Solid B yes but B is an Asian F... so B is still a D... so you got the D..
