We stuck our beer in the snow that was on our porch while we were up at Shaver Lake. It was amazingly cold

Faster chilling? Stick a can in the snow, then compress the snow around the can basically making a packed snow "coozie". Then take the can and spin it, axially, inside the snow coozie. Keep doing that for a few minutes and you'll go from shelf-warm to drinkable. Keep going for 5 minutes or so and it'll be nice and chilled, right about 32-F.

If you have access to some salt, you can theoretically apply it between the can and the snow coozie and get it down to 27-30 degreesF.

EDIT: and yes. I know about snow. It's why I lived in locations without it for over 20 years.

DOUBLE EDIT: 20 years? Holy fuking old!

All of you non-snow people, read this. Never trust non-snow people for help with snow related matters

Experiment: Chilling beer in the great outdoors | NEAROF

Cul0, 5 minutes in snow will do nothing. Putting a beer into the freezer for 5 minutes will do nothing. well, besides make the can feel cool. Inside won't change much.

Case of the dumb. I don't even know what thread you're talking about I'm sure I'll stumble across it eventually today.

On a completely unrelated topic- I was sitting beside an Accord Crosstour yesterday and I was wondering to myself if that car would look gangster with a nice drop and bigger wheels. You know, going the opposite of what that vehicle is intended for, like Subaru Foresters that get lowered. I love how they look lol

I've maxed out my credit card buying mods, I only have $800 left and need to replace both axels because I'm squeezing more power out of my 10 year old car and hooning the shit out of it, but what the fuck.. Shitty fucking Acura breaks down for no reason

It's all good with what he's doing, but he's kind of doing it nilly-willy. I mean, don't buy shit if you don't have money. For all he knows, that car may end up a write off due to some idiot on the roads hitting him and then he's stuck paying off mods for a vehicle he no longer even owns. Makes zero sense.

Also, we 100% warned him about modding his 5at, and we joked that he would put up a thread eventually complaining about a blown transmission. Sounds like he dodged the bullet for now, but I think he's on borrowed time. I mean, completely stock TLs were blowing their auto transmissions- I don't think cranking out more power and mashing the go pedal will help longevity.

We warned him and we said he'd come back complaining about the tranny. He still won't listen though

Okay, you've repeatedly admitted to being slow today so I won't go too ballistic on you. But you need to *read* what I wrote. Sticking the can in the snowbank won't do much in the short term. But what I wrote about packing it in snow and then TURNING IT, will.

Assuming a warm can, the snow, at a cooler temperature, will conduct heat from the can and from the liquid immediately in contact with the wall of the can. Remember, aluminum is a great conductor (glass, less so, but I'm talking about cans. Deal with it) so it'll do a good job chilling the outermost liquid. There will still be a radial temperature gradient in from the wall to the center of the can. And guess what? there is more volume of liquid in that inner-annular region that is warmer than the outer molecular layer touching the can wall so overall, it will stay warmer.

But now, the science! By rotating the can, you cause the liquid inside to be constantly moving, and you introduce new liquid to the outer layer of the can wall so it can get chilled too. It will significantly reduce the time it takes to chill the can. But you won't get below the temperature of the snow no matter how much work you do. Unless you use salt.

Don't believe every podunk website experiment you read. Hell, don't believe me either. I don't care.

No. I really don't.

I'm willing to teach a guy to fish, but if he just wants to keister his fish instead of eating them, well, that's his prerogative.

I know how to make my beers cold.

I only signed up to carry the Maj-torch for the few days he was banned. This is the real deal. :soory:

I'm super cereal though. That technique works. Try it. You've got snow, right?

I don't get it. How do you leave your car in position 1 and walk away? Wouldn't the radio be on? If it's a key ignition, how do you pull the key out? if it's a push start, hitting the button once should kill all power... Something doesn't add up.

You've identified the root of his problem.

And the answer is: "quit doing that".

Because it's a problem. I like solving problems. I already solved TacaoBey's problem and this was the next one in line.

And it's solved.

What's next on the docket?

i like solving problems too but if i've learned anything in my life, it's that there is one problem you can't solve: human ignorance/stupidity

Some people just do stuff for the sake of doing it. when you ask why, they respond, "because it's how I've always done it". You try to waste your time and have them see the light. They say, 'nah, i've been doing it for x amount of years and it's fine'.

It's the human aspect of it. At least computers are logical as are cars... bikes.. other inanimate objects..
