The police spec SHO is a little different than the normal SHO you can buy at the dealer. For one it has more HP and TQ than stock. Which is 365hp stock and I believe 350tq stock. The suspension is different as well and the biggest part of the police SHO's downfall. The car is built to go over an 8" curb at 55 mph if I remember correctly with no damage to the car, add the huge skid plates underneath and it really starts to hinder the car.
I can't imagine any vehicle plowing into a curb at 55MPH without causing damage (well, save for maybe a couple... but theyre also bomb proof )
Man, I don't know if I'd want to be in any car plowing into a curb at 55MPH. Not only will the car launch upwards, but that is also a seriously decrease in velocity. You can't tell me the occupants of the vehicle would continue a hot persuit after something like that. I seriously feel that is BS.

I would never run into a curb doing 55 if it was a car I paid for with my money! If someone else wants to loan me their car, I may think about attempting it.
I can't think the new Taurii are as hardy as the old Crown Vics, just given that they're a unibody and the CVPI was body-on-frame.
Even if the Taurus had super-strong steelies and the ground clearance to hop a curb going that fast, I have to think you'd pop a tire off the bead, crack the oil pan (unless there's a skidplate there) or absolutely ruin the front control arms/tie rods/anything with the word "ball joint" in it.
The cop versions do have skid plates. It's one thing for the car to be able to handle that kind of impact. It's another for the occupants to do the same. That would cause some major hurt, one way or another.
