The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
No, I'm saying maintain the TL isn't exactly cheap either. All that guy did was some basic maintenance and paid a fortune for it. All I did was basic maintenance and paid a fortune for it also. Not nearly as expensive as a land Rover but still pricey nonetheless. For those who aren't car savvy, they'd pay a fortune to get the TL to a good state here in Canada. Nothing more
It wasn't a bad car. I think if I only owned one car, and used it for commuting/back roads/track days/autocrosses/Ikea runs, I would have liked it more. Although I think a GTI would have still been the better car to own for all of that.
Rear visibility suuuucks. The dash is huge and intrusive for tall people. When Ford put wider wheels on the ST (versus the non-ST Focii) they would hit the struts at full lock, so they simply limited how far the steering rack can move. That means you cannot make a U-turn if the oncoming lanes are only two wide. I made a ton of embarrassing three-point-turns in the ST.
The suspension is set up for maximum fun all the time, which is great until you're commuting and you feel every highway expansion joint. Steering is electric and has okay feel, but it's twitchy. Those Recaros that are so gorgeous in the showroom have poor lumbar support for long drives.
The FoST is like that 19-year-old fratstar who brings a fifth of Burnett's to class on a Tuesday morning... always ready for the party. And it's good at parties. But it's not good at being "nice" or "relaxed" at all. Ever. The GTI is more like the college alumni... he can still throw down, but he can also go on a nice date without vomiting on his ladyfriend's shoes.
I've since driven a few Fiesta ST's and liked them more - the chassis of the FiST better fits the frenetic nature of the motor, to me.
And I traded the ST for another BMW with a big, lazy straight six that has a 7,200 rpm fuel cut, two long doors, red seats and some oil seeping from some gaskets already. But damn, it rides so much better and is just as athletic on a back road.

B) @ Focii, FoST and FiST.
#) My friend is an average sized so he won't have the height issues to deal with, but I certainly would. Thanks for educating me, I didn't know about any of that shit.
I find that trying to do something discreet catches more attention then just doing it. I would just unzip, stick your hand down there and give it a good scratch. Don't forget to zip back up. The difficult part will be resisting to smell said finger after doing so. Or just sniff it right away, no fucks given. If your neighbor gives you a weird look, offer to give them a sniff as well. They might be feeling left out.

I did put a bunch of money in, but to be honest, the car wasn't in as good of shape as I thought it was upon purchase. I didn't inspect it as well as I normally inspect cars when purchasing (i was like "oooo! Pretty!" And I trusted the seller more than I should have), but I guess to be fair, I did get it at a good price, so it was kind of a trade off. I like to drive my cars hard, but with that in mind, I like to ensure everything is in tip top shape- just gives me a feeling of comfort and satisfaction. I get A little OCD with my cars, lol.
Like all Hondas I've owned, as long as maintenance is up to par, driving it hard as hell is all good. Isn't that why Honda was putting F1 inspired suspensions and high revving engines into their cars in the 90s, lol?
Yeah man, this is by far my favourite thread- it's just a bunch of random guys acting like jackasses and talking about the most random things. Best part is nothing is held back. Always puts a smile on my face!

Aww that's cute! Go 'head and dock already
I got mine around the same time as you. It had 68,000 miles on it, and I'm up to 76,000 now. Mainly highway miles because I drive a 60 mile round trip to work. All I've done so far is a 3x3 on the trans and changed the oil. Been a pretty solid ride so far. I feel you on the OCD; I'm the same way! Only things I can bitch about is the passenger seat heater switch light is out. And occasionally, I get the tighten fuel cap message. I've researched on here and figured out the problem. That's just a minor fix.

Actually, in all seriousness...:ghey: bashing of any kind gets reprimanded, since it's not in jest...none of that would be tolerated by the site or the members charged with keeping it's integrity.
You ever feel ganged (banged) up on...you just have to use your whistle and everyone will back off. No kidding. Same goes for racism or sexism...not tolerated.

I also find it funny that all straight guys assume that all gay guys would find them attractive...especially since they are usually the guys that don't exactly have chicks flocking to them...

Heavy black girls and :ghey: guys always do hit on me though...and that's a fact. I don't mind in the least as long as they're not pushy, I'm confident that I'm over 60% straight (that's more than half!) and to me, it feels good when anyone strokes my ego.

LOL...
the only gripe I have about a person is if they make it their entire identity. Like, being :ghey: is their only personality trait...
That annoys me, then again, I don't know what it's like to be liberated after decades of having to hide it in public.

But yeah, I'm with you. I like driving/wrenching on/racing cars, making and eating good food, and drinking all sorts of beers. The small bit about who I want to bring home at night is just that. It's not a friggin' hobby.
