The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
He was the first character I learned when playing SFII actually.
I just found the charge moves to easier than the quarter-circles and etc. needed for Ken/Ryu. And IMO, until they nerfed Guile in the later versions of SFII, I thought he was one of the best characters...
He had an unstoppable (but cheap) attack that no one could counter when the first iteration of the game hit the arcade: jab-jab-throw...and repeat. So, once a guy was down, walk over him and start jabbing...even if they block, two jabs is enough to get you close enough to do a throw.

Guile also had one of the best jumping attacks with his Medium-FW-Jump kick esp. if someone was cornered.
Jump in with the Med-FW kick, crouch with the Medium kick, and then, Flash Kick. Insane damage...and then, finish them off as they are down by walking in...jab-jab and throw.
Usually enough to win the round.

Not in the original wave of SF games.
If you button mashed, you were toast. Lots of strategy and counters you need to learn.
ARGUABLY, the beginning of button smashing started with games like Tekken and then when Wolverine was introduced in the Capcom Marvel-SF-type games.
But, even then, against a seasoned player, no match.
