For the record, I believe Adrian Beatyourson is not a bad person...sure, he has a horrid team he plays for...but, he's not a Ray Rice or Hardy... 
Did Beatyourson go a bit overboard in disciplining the kid? Perhaps. But, again...speaking from my own personal experience and what I've seen...what he did is not stuff I have not seen before. I've had bruises from beat-downs by my Dad before.

Shit...I got beatdowns for almost everything under the sun. I still love my parents and now, appreciate what they did and why they did it.
I'm pretty sure when I talked back to my Dad once and he beat me to a pulp, he was pissed. Today's standards, sure...it's "abuse". But, to me...and in my mind, it's him disciplining his ungrateful-idiot son.

I have no qualms about spoiling my boy though. If he deserves something or earned it, heck yeah...no expense spared. I promise that.
But, if he's an ungrateful, lippy, and irresponsible dork? I have no problems showing my displeasure.

It's a balance. For sure. But, all Little Cha needs to know is that his parents love him to death and will give anything to see him happy. The fact he made a robot cry when he held him for the first time should be indication...
SO...I expect that love to equate to some semblance of respect and honoring of the family code. It's not unreasonable.

It never fails to do the job if you drink enough of them.. Lol! I really prefer Blue Moon or Red Stripe. But, I spent $62 on 9 quarts of DW1 (thanks to car parts.com), so I figured I'd go cheap on the beer tonight. I'm can be a penny pincher at times.

I learned this a while back. Buy and eat quality food. Why would you put premium fuel and premium fluids in your car.. only to put shit into your body.
