Then his comment about spark plugs.. shiet. Anyone who knows anything about these engines know there are two OE plugs for the J. Ones a plat the other's iridiums. The iridiums will last longer, both seat level and provide more than enough spark to ensure full combustion. Longer electrode bullshit is just that. The denso spec is the same as NGKs.. I'm guessing they chose denso because they put in a lower bid. You'll still find NGK's are listed as OEM from vendors because the spec is the same.
Then talking shit about fram and talking up the honda filter.. uh hello.. they're both made by fucking honeywell, hence they're the same fucking filter. Open them up.. guess what, it's the fucking same. "The filter density of the filter is much more.. the filter has more 'ravel'.. " fucking a.. only dense ravel is the twine between his ears.
Old Honda Filtech filter on the left, New honda filter and fram on the right.. the fram has less pleats but if you cut open a tough guard filter, it's the same. Filter media area is the same as well.
Then telling you to put anti-seize on the bolt.. There's a fucking reason why you don't put anti-seize on a crank pulley or any moving bolt, and why they say light coat of fresh oil. It's like.. why put a fastening lubricant on a bolt the bolt was designed to never un-fasten.
Then the talk about nitrous.. FFS. That guy can't be serious. There are at least 2 members here who have blown a rod out the block. One of them was a master tech at Acura. For him to say the J can handle it is asinine. It's only time before you blow your shit into next week.
Just way too much for me to correct.. and someone like that, they're not interested in learning or carrying out logical discussion. I mean seriously.. his fucking title says "electrical expert"
If I told my brosefs at work that I'm an electrical expert they'd fucking laugh. I work with some guys who have two PhD's in EE and Computer Engineering.. they wouldn't dare call themselves "experts".. they still consult others for help.
Maj, just got caught up in justn's thread. I don't know this guy, but his suggestions don't seem to be bad ones...
The anti-seize makes sense, cleaning stuff up makes sense (I do this anyway: every time I change my PS fluid, I clean the entire right side of the engine compartment)
on the plugs, not sure if they're the same or not, but I would imagine since justn's still running a 3.2 block that the stock TL ones are the right choice?
oil filters, RP or nothing.
Just trying to educate myself too.

Anti-seize for cp bolt.. stating it will aid in accurate torquing..
It fundamentally changes the torque spec.
@ RP filters.. Can't go wrong with Champ Labs..
She's at Palazio.. she used to be at Yellow Rose (more upscale). She's 100%.. a ho. She did this special showing her house here.. it was a model home. Not even her real place. Like we wouldn't notice, dumb ho. Btw.. Some guy got murdered at Palazio a year ago.. classy. A brosef of mine checked her out.. she loves the pole.

Thanks for all of that info, Maj! I never make claims unless I see science. I hate all these people who claim that whatever they do to their own car is the best thing because "they've never had a problem".

Granted, his interpretation of the papers is subjective, there is no doubt that the RP filter is one of the best.
Unless you think his test method is shit?
Edit: I read a similar such study that was actually based on an ISO standard for air filters, where they found that an OEM air filter (it was also for GM) was the best and that K&N was complete shit. I wasn't running K&N but a few of my friends were and got really sad when I sent them that.

I still use M1 filters as well (usually because oil deals).. but definitely change them by 5k miles.
Talking about air filters. We had a member who was an engineer / research scientist for some government agency. We had this wicked conversation years back about filtration and different media. He schooled us big time in the use of foam and other assorted media for engine air filtration. They ran assorted tests and it pretty much came back that even an oiled foam filter is only good for keeping cats and large mice from getting into your engine.

I took all the timing cover gaskets and lubed them with shin etsu. It also helped to kinda hold them in place and in all their tabs. Plus, it renewed the rubber again and gave them another 100K life!
