and wtf. now some of my friends on the internet is saying they wouldnt trust those pistons....
Moderator
iTrader: (1)
since they hit, couldnt they be weakened?
and potentially crack if they havent already?
they dont know this particular platform and are just going by knowledge.
Idunno, maybe its an excuse to stroke the motor. lol
put some 3.7 pistons in there.
Since, I'm already this far....
its only a few more steps to take out the engine....
I havent replaced the heads yet....
so, I could go farther into the build or stop now and just put the new heads on....
and the whole project is cheap. im in it for about 600 now...

Justin, I hope you get your car running again soon.

Maj, if the valves are not well adjusted and tight, wont they hit the piston heads? I thought that would do some harm and hence my comment of adjust the valves....
also just because the heads are new (to him), I would not take my changes....I would definitely check the clearances, just to be sure...and I did post saying "you will be doing a valve adjustment (just to make sure) on the new valves right?"

Contact is made when timing is off.

Morning all
My weekend project wasn't nearly as involved as Justn's. Replaced the seal on my moonroof glass. Done in less than 30 mins

I concur, I did some more reading and I was terribly wrong....I was under the impression that valves could hit the piston if the clearances were not correct....but after reading over the weekend, you are correct, timing is the reason they would get in contact and not when they are out of adjustment....
unless a valve floated, timing is to blame for those marks....
about my second comment...new heads or not, I would still make sure the valves are in spec when he gets them....easier to check when everything is out in the open than to find out something is wrong and redo everything again....knowing Justin's luck, I would triple check if I had to....

Bad news, bisque needs lots of cream and I think I have a few cups worth in me now. Going to have to and extra hard this week.
Last week of work before I head off to Vancouver for a few days with the wife and kid. Going to eat until my face turns purple when I'm there (hello days of 3 dinners!).
How was yours?

I love pigging out every once in a while (end up being like once or twice a week) specially with my mom here and cooking all the traditional stuff that I miss :slurp:
weekend was awesome....finished all the house work on Saturday (mowing/cleaning/pulling some weed out/changing 3 sprinkler heads since the gears were stripped)....hit the mall with the family on Sunday...took Sid on a carousel and boy did he have fun....
as usually, weekend was short but fun

Frantz.. you talking about that big gasket that rides inside the channel? Mine flopped loose last summer while it was rolled back when I was cruising. It binded up and wouldn't close. I realigned it by hand while driving down the freeway. No problems since..

the seafood use totally depends on if you are on the coast...India being a peninsula, you see a lot of folks enjoying seafood...but most of it is enjoyed cooked and not raw....
yeah, not a lot of peeps know but every state in India has a different language (not dialect) but a totally different language....its like imagining Europe as a country (not continent) and all the countries in there as states....
so every kid learns 3 languages in school....English, Hindi (national language) and the state language....traditionally (1800's and about until 1950-60), English was not mandatory....so for example, I cannot converse with my in-laws...since they speak a different language (Telegu) but not Hindi or English...only sign language works between us hahah....but the wifey can converse with my parents in English or Hindi (neither her state language or mine) lol...

yeah when I said it first, in all honesty, I was not sure and I totally forgot he over revved and it might have messed up some valves (again not sure what happened there)....
then I realized he is getting new heads, so maybe new valvetrain, so I mentioned/asked if he will be doing the adjustment, just to be sure...
when Maj pointed my first comment out, since he knows a ton more than me, I got to some reading and that confirmed I was wrong....but I still stand by my second comment though LOL
was a total mix up in my head which caused it but it lead to some new learning
Safety Car
Item 20. Mine tore on the outside edge, flopped over, and wouldn't sit flush when the roof was closed. It looked ugly and figured I could spare the $28 bucks to fix it.

I'm just trying to figure out what peeps mean when they are differentiating between "southern" Indian cuisine versus "northern"...and by north, it's stuff that we get lots up here of: butter chicken, beef vindaloo...heavier in oil and butter.

Bombay would be the melting pot...its on the coast but its the "center" of India....
anything north of Bombay is northern India and south of Bombay is southern India....
North likes its naan and roti and tandoori....South likes its rice....
with roti, you tend to eat a curry which is thick/heavy...with rice, you eat curries which are very 'thin' in consistency....so yes, northern cuisine will use thick cream based curries with butter and oil
Southern cuisine is more like Biryani, Sambar, Rasam, Dosa, Idli, etc

No leaks luckily since it poured over the weekend but I'm sure it would've started in a few weeks. If yours is crusty now, it'll probably tear like mine did when the roof is fully open. Easy fix either way.

So, you prefer the northern fare or southern stuff? I'm guessing since you're from the "central" city...your Mom is well-versed at making both types?

No kidding. I've tried helping a few people out on that group on facebook, but everyone there is mostly concerned about which new wheels to put on their rides.
This weekends awesome conversation was about how much quicker and faster the 9th gen Civic Si was over the 07-08 TL-s.
