So, given you know SQL, it should be a piece of cake for you.

Informatica is the other product used at most large organizations and seems to be more popular than the IBM app.
LOL...I work extensively with Informatica...used to work with Ab Initio (IBM) and SSIS (Microsoft) but Informatica definitely has the market share when it comes to ETL tools...

Ah...there you go. If you know Informatica, I'd wager the IBM tool isn't necessary for your repertoire. BUT, I was told since I know DataStage et al, I can easily get acclimatized to Informatica. So, I'm sure it's vice versa for you too.

Haven't seen it in 3D, sir.

But, I'll take your word for it. Entertaining movie, but...definitely Pocahontas in Space.

If a BA like me can know how to figure it out, an actual true DBA/data analyst like you can easily figure it out after an hours clicking around.

Although, to be frank, the number of BAs around here with ZERO IT backgrounds is farking scary. They should NOT be a BA for IT...I know the supposed theory is that business analysis is just requirements...but, to be able to understand your developers, systems analysts and etc. is a necessity.

Sounds good.

Like, even without 3D, this is your fave movie?

I'd have a hard time deciding my ALL-TIME favorite...but, I have a few in my Top 10:

- Iron Man
- Pacific Rim
- Up!
- Wall-E
- Despicable Me
- Casino Royale
- Glory
- The Dark Knight
- Hero
- Life is Beautiful

I totally agree...

one of my colleagues is not from a tech background and does some BA work...she will gather requirements very well. The issue is, she will make some promises without talking to the DEV team...

"ohh yeah we can totally add this column. We should have it ready by tomorrow"....I was on the call and was like

I had to interject and even spoke to her offline but she doesnt seem to get it...

Yup...totally agree. Trying to explain to a non-IT BA/PM that the functional requirement they just promised is not possible esp. due to database constraints is like watching the Chicago Bulls run their offense: teef pulling.

great reference....

yeah sometimes adding a column is simple but other times its not as easy, we need to check for downstream apps and make sure we dont screw something up trying to fix this...

...and yeah, worked with a non IT PM and it was the worst project of my life...I had to do shit load of development work being a team lead just to keep up with the freaking tickets which we were getting

All my PMs have non-IT backgrounds...may explain why I have bad relationships with most of them.

I've had ZERO experience working with a true IT PM. Sad but true.

I like movies that make me think about things. Loss of a loved one, finding love, religion, life and whats after, etc.

Signs had a ton of Hitchcockian cues and touches that I really appreciated.

When looking at it from a directorial standpoint Children of Men is up there too.

I think the most over rated dude EVER was kimbo slice...

I was never into MMA/etc but my eg girlfriends younger brother was and he used to see and share with me videos of kimbo slice getting on the streets and trying to fight dude and then trained and came into MMA only to get knocked out within the first 15 seconds if I remember right...gonna post some videos up in a minute

Anil, I went from talking about one of the greatest HW boxers of all time and you turned it into talking about some street fighter.

Btw.. Kimbo Slice would kick your ass. He can't hang with the top wrestlers, grapplers and muay thai practitioners in the world because he's never trained in it, but you'd be a fucking fool to throw jabs with him.

I really love Point Break.
My HS movies were Wayne's world, Tommy Boy, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison and sometimes Black Sheep.

I really like The Game with Michael Douglas too...

Watched "7" and "Heat" and "Braveheart" a bunch when I worked in the movie theater. "Willow" was a favorite as a kid too. I actually liked Pacific Rim but I have a crush on Jax Teller...(well, Betty does) so that helped.

Thanks Maj...

It's hard to say because someone else could easily point out a bunch of others like Steel Magnolias, Risky Business or Legally Blonde or Clueless and I could call the favs too.

I firmly believe a movie sits high on people's list if it happens or is watched during a pivotal moment or sentimental time in their lives or personally touches THEM (like Chad mentioned). More often than not when I a movie, it's more about that than an academy award performance or sundance kudos.

The older I get the less impressed I am with shit just blowing up and titties...has to have some substance or invoke emotion or have a bunch of tits for me to recall it 3 months later. Hate to admit it but I can't count on one hand how many times I come home with a redbox movie and Betty says we already saw it...

One of my all time favorite films is Revolver, from Guy Ritchie. Not because it's a particularly incredible film (I do like it). But because the message in the film came to me exactly when I needed it and it changed the way I live.
