Dennis let me borrow a spare stock wheel for my trip to Florida. I didnt intend to use it, but alas, I had gotten a flat on my way back home.
so, its been on the car ever since. and his main concern was that I was wearing out the tire, which I wasnt because I dont drive it.
then I had gotten into the accident and had asked if I could use it for a little while longer, because well, i was in an accident and needed all the help i could get.
I should have taken it off before i put it in the shop.
but now, its in the shop with a completion date of thursday or friday, but as we all know, it will get pushed back.
he texted me this morning asking for the wheel.
I dont have a ride and literally cant do anything at the moment until i get my car back.
what the heck do i do?

well if you dont have a usable wheel/tire, not much you can do....unless the KIA uses the same bolt pattern and has a spare which you can give him for the time being
seriously, on the weekends I have no ride at all. ive stayed home for 3 months now. and i finally got a haircut bumming my moms ride.
I do have that flat tire stock wheel and have offered to put a used tire on it for the time being. he said "no"

Hmm...that's a tough one.
I'm sure you probably explained the latest update to him already?
If you can find a way to get to the shop with your flat tire/wheel, drop it off and get Dennis' back to him. Then you'll have a few days to source your own tire and have that shop mount it for you before you bring your car home?

I'm not sure I'm understanding totally so my advice is a little limited.
For the sake of your friendship though, from my own experience...there's a point where being a cool laid back friend turns into feeling like you're getting taken advantage of. IMO (I've had this scenario with an ex friend actually)...you do whatever you have to do to go get it back, ride from a friend, borrow mom's car...even if that means putting your car on a spare or a junk yard drive or slapping your blown out wheel back on for now. The mission to get the wheel back to him is not his problem...nor was the fact that you let it go this long. From his perspective, he was nice enough to lend it, asked you not to put mileage and now wants it back. It'll piss him off that he has to ask more than once, get excuses about it, or you justinfying why he doesn't really need it right this minute.
The "I'm broke" because I'm saving money to buy a house or I don't have a ride doesn't really fly for most people since technically everyone can say they're broke because they're saving money for SOMETHING.
My honest opinion about preserving your friendship, Justin...I hope you don't take it as a slap in the face.

@Jeremy: Man, you are good with words....
in India, there is a saying...here is the literal translation from Hindi "To slap someone with a shoe wrapped in a blanket"
so you hit them with a shoe and they didnt even realize it
I agree on preserving friendship....but like I was holding onto Matt's jumper and he was holding onto my porter cable....i needed my porter cable but since he lives ways away from me, I didnt want to bend his hand into returning it....at the same time, Steven has a porter cable which he handed to me when I was in need....i think it all comes down to personality and the relation....I dont mind bending backwards for my friends....I have very limited friends and I keep them as close as family....
I bet Dennis will understand where Justin is coming from....now if he was riding around on that tire and making excuses like "but I am stoned brahh", he would get pissed but the dude doesnt have a car....but that doesn't mean Justin should just sit back and enjoy, I think he should make everything in his reach possible to get the tire back to Dennis....
its a fine line, but I dont think friendship is a thin string of thread, its more like a fishing line...atleast for me

I'll add to that Justin, your friends likely know that none of that is intentional on your part. I'm pretty sure you have no idea you're even pissing people off when you do

Where there's a will, there's a way. You're just not thinking hard enough for a solution. If Dennis needs it back, he shouldn't have to ask more than once...in fact, he shouldn't have had to ask to begin with. Borrow for trip, get back, replace blown tire give his back.
That logic applies to how I do things and the expectation I have from people...I don't know your dynamic so I guess my advice wouldn't apply.

Don't have all the facts about Justin's issues...I gather his TL was in a car accident recently...so, is it not drivable anymore? Or is it in the shop? If in the shop, why not get insurance to pay for a rental?
Sorry, wayyyy late to the party. Just need more information.

i just needed a little help by keeping the spare for a bit.
I understand that I overstayed my welcome.
I have offered my spare wheel. but would need help getting to a used tire lot.

rental isnt covered because I took it out.
why the fuck did i do that? I have no earthly idea
i remember declining a rental car last time, but i did not take it out of my policy.
Im assuming, with my declining of the rental car was their okay to take it out of the policy.
Im switching Ins companies as soon as this shit is done.
Oh rly? So this has to end up here. I guess I will say my piece. Justin is my home and there is no way a single wheel is going to come in between that. As he stated, I loaned him the wheel in November to go on a road trip and he ended up needing to use it. In January I asked for ny wheel, he said he wants to ride on it and then buy me aire to which I said no. Instead of buying me a tire and mismatching my set, get new for your car instead. Asked for the wheel again sometime after, car is in the shop.... I asked for the wheel again this morning since I will be having visitors I may need to haul around and my current wheels on the car will hella rub. All of this I explained to him. I understand his situation but at the same time I offered the wheel for your trip and 4 months later I still cannot have it? Like I said, this will in no way, shape or form affect the friendship but I do need the use of my wheel unless I should just shut up and don't say anything
