I'm not familiar with Focal and a lower price point would be a good thing. I got the Acoustimas 10 for a steal. Divorcing couple that lived across the street were selling stuff to split it up. I paid $350 for it. It was only 4 months old.

thats a $1000 setup...well am gonna take Steven to listen to Focal and might see if someone has a Bose and will made a decision then

Thanks bud

Good luck...let the ears decide. Probably should have said...I grew up listening to music way too f***ing loud so my hearing is compromised. My wife's hearing is fine and she likes the Bose setup.

Anil, I can't believe you're considering that junior sized system at that inflated price. Nothing terribly wrong with Focal, they have decent SQ but c'mon.. you bought a fucking 7.2 amp and you want to go kindergarten on the home audio system. shieeet..

I was telling Steven the same thing...since childhood it was always "bigger is better" and hence when I was setting up something for my home/car, I wanted to biggest speaker or the loudest oomph creating amp....now its quite the opposite...want more clarity, more music but I have been spoiled rotten LOL....

I know bud and hence I posted here for the reviews/ideas...

this is the klipsch setup I was eyeing:
http://www.klipsch.com/icon-floorstanding-speakers

KF26 for the fronts (700 pair)
KC25 for the center (250)
KS14 for the rears (280 pair)

Best buy has a deal if you get front and centers, you get rears for free....so 950 for this setup, plus 250-300 for the sub

I had an Onkyo 1000 watt rms system that did me right for $450 for everything, I'm sure it's not the same level...but for that price, I could watch and feel movies just fine.

But I'm a cheap fk.

Justin, congrats, man...sounds like no matter which was true, someone ended up on their knees and you ended up feeling relieved and refreshed.

bruh.. you have stereo sub inputs.. why are you only looking to get one sub? If you're on a budget.. PSW10's are like $60 on sale regularly on newegg. If you don't mind spending some coin, the BIC F12s (
Amazon link"><b><span style=Amazon link" /> Amazon link">Amazon link
, similar to PL200's, price fluctuates so watch it regularly) are great home audio subs. Rated at 25-200 Hz, but I think that's conservative. My F12 sends shivers up my spine without audibly hearing the action. Makes movies much more tense and satisfying. It can fucking shake a coke can off my mantle too, annoys the hell out of my neighbors when need be. $200 for a well constructed monster, warrantied for 5 years, can't beat it.. not unless you're willing to spend $500+

$700 for a pair of KF26.. are they nucking futs?!?!.. I worry about you Anil, you really do go looking to get rammed in the *

If you want to go klipsch, I'd get the RF series, either 42 or 52. The 52 will have larger mid tweeters on the floor standing and rears.. I think 6" and the 42s will have 4.5". Both sound great. Honestly, I think the 42's have crisper mids and highs. There is a deal right now for the 42 set for $1200 and it comes with 1 - BIC PL200 sub, which is a pricier F12 sub, so it's a pretty sweet deal (
Amazon link"><b><span style=Amazon link" /> Amazon link">Amazon link
).

If you want decent SQ Klipsch speakers and want to save a little coin, Klipsch has a couple lines of speakers under the familiar names of Energy, or the "budget" name Jamo. You can get the 5.0 Jamo set for $200 or less (under the Energy name, EF500's + components, it's $700). Sounds very good (
Amazon link"><b><span style=Amazon link" /> Amazon link">Amazon link
).

BIC has a nice line of speakers as well. Their floorstanding PL-76's and 89's are the tits. Overstock has a pair of 76's for $299, fucking steal (Overstock link, $500 on Amazon), Although the 89's theoretically should sound a little muddier, they don't. That damn horn is fantastic. Is it worth the extra coin over the 76 deal, imo, no.. but for around the same coin, I'd get the 89's.

You can buy the set and it's pretty much the same deal as the Klipsch, comes with PL200 and around $1200 ($1400 for the PL89s), but why do that when you can buy the center for $200 + 4 76's for $600 + 2 F12's for $400... shiett.. that's $1200 right there with 2 kickass subs, 4 kickass floors, and one kickass center.

shiett.. the BIC FH6 is on sale for $120 (
linky"><b><span style=linky" /> linky">linky
)

drops you down to $1120.

I tried looking for decent review on the sub but mostly just dumbasses rocking out to the bassiest song they could find. This is really a home theater duty sub, so if you tune it for the room and set it in phase, even at fairly modest volume, it will rattle your shit.. a KC mini tremor

(right around the 14s mark, he walks from the sub to some picture frames on the wall, invest in some foam tabs to put behind them).

I know what you mean....in the apartment I had a (still got it) a Sony 1000W system and it was like 380 or something after discounts with a sub....

for the basement I wanted to do something fancy....nothing insane but something nice....

I saw some of my neighbors setup and they were really up there in price....i decided a budget of 1500 for mine....

got the receiver for 300 shipped (brand new) and now on the search for a good speaker setup...

and its not cheap brotha, its calculative and aint nothing wrong with that

Jeezus...I guess I am not a true audiophile then. That's the problem with keeping up with the Jones' too, you heard there's and now you got a realistic number that seems reasonable. Like with wheels...10 years ago I would have said $400, that's too much money for wheels!

Pretty much the setup without the subs (5.0). Listen to his muddy voice in the recording and then the vid. Not easy to reproduce the sound but you get an idea how clear these speakers / home theater setup is. Second vid is amp demo (remember no sub.. )

Maj....thats a great effin post...

the 7.2 has output of 115W/channel @6ohms and 95W/channel @8 ohms and most of the stuff here is ~150W....I dont wanna underpower the speakers...i dont mind over powering them....

then I will have to add another preamp/amp....

am gonna do more research but the only reason why I even considered the bloated prices of Best buy was because I have some coupons AND the rears were free...hence the setup was coming to 800 without sub (as compared to 1400 for the Klipsch you linked)....

either way a lot of thinking and researching is going on....thanks for all the help mah man....i knew i could ask you anything

On an unrelated note.. helped my broham change the pads on his Ford Edge because his wife heard grinding. So got the pads, took the wheels off. Fucking retarded Ford created these spring clips to hold in the pads.. dumbasses.

Anyways, his rear pads wore down to the metal.. Told him he needs new rotors.. on to the fronts.. pads are like 80%

Original pads. Anyone experience the rears wearing 5x faster than the fronts. I was thinking the pads were dragging, but for 5 years.. doesn't seem plausible. Brakes fine..

Don't worry about so-called "underdriving" the speakers. Those ratings are peak. I don't know too much about your receiver but at 95W/ch @8ohms.. weighing 21 lbs.. a preamp will be nice for the peaks but I highly doubt you'll be pushing those bad boys to the proverbial limit. I say get it.. try it out, if you feel like you want to scare the shit out of everyone on the 2nd floor and adjacent neighbors, get the amp.

Majofo, early 8th gen accord coupes had that same braking issue. What I was told was that when they are in a rush to get a new gen put out, like in this case, they used the brake setup for a CL or something and didn't account for the different weight distribution and the rear accounted for too much of the braking. Without fail, every 17K miles I had the change the rear pads (except when I swapped to ceramic, they had 21K when we traded in). The fronts were fine the entire 70K miles of ownership.

from what I read in the past 30 minutes or so, that Jamo system is the tits and for $200 its awesome....

now its only 5 speakers, so I need 2 surround speakers and 2 subs, what do you recommend?

Are the Jamo Sub 210 any good? ($100 on Amazon)
Amazon.com: Jamo SUB 210 Subwoofer: Electronics Amazon.com: Jamo SUB 210 Subwoofer: Electronics

so thats $400 (200 for 5 speakers and 200 for subs)...and what other 2 speakers do you recommend?

Again thanks a lot folks....this is virgin territory for me and i dont wanna suck
