I saw a 4mpg increase just changing my shift point from like 3200 rpm to 2500 or less. It's HARD to drive like that, but I've been getting sub 20 mpg since the summer hit and I put the lightweight advans on and I feel like accelerating quickly everywhere I go.
If I rubbed off on Anil, he'd remember it!
story, for sure, man...it sucks that he'd take it but he could have taken it and then put your wallet in the trash. It'd be worth the $50 to me to not have to get a new license, concealed carry, cancel and order all my credit cards, get a copy of all my insurance cards, AAA and have to retake a picture of my peen (an old one, from it's glory days). That would suck.

Thanks, will do - my fellow 6MT kbp brethren!
14 hours on the low side. Should make it on 30 gallons of gas.
I feel really good honestly. I expect the TL to be completely different than my friends 4 cylinder jetta that I learned on, but I think I can adapt quickly enough that it shouldn't be a problem especially since 90% of the driving will be highways. Having a motorcycle definitely lessens the learning curve of learning to drive a manual car. The only thing that I couldn't really do was practice my downshift passing vroooom vroooom because his car is wound out at 4k RPMS when you're cruising 60mph! That will be one of the first things that I do.
What does freak me out is that I will be in tornado alley and momma told me there is supposed to be some inclement weather out that way.
I am going to look over this car with a microscope before I sign anything. Going to inspect the undercarriage, suspension components, motor mounts (the ones I can easily see), oil pan, plug/wires, interior, exterior, and 100% functionality for all electronics.

Jeremy, I told you too shift early I have been trying to convey the same point to our beloved Meko LOL
I remember i used to shift at 2200-2300 rpm and get insanely good mileage....and then I got the exhaust....I love shifting at 3000-3200 rpm and listening to that exhaust note
I used to get ~23-24mpg all city driving, now I am down to 20-21....Highway has pretty much stayed the same...with or without the weight loss, I used to get 32-34mpg all highway and that has been the same....stay easy on the gas, get upto 70-72 and enjoy the extra green in your pocket

Anil, yep...I knew it, but I somehow keep forgetting to do it.
Highway speed limit around here is 70 so speed is 80-90 generally...most people do it so it's hard to stay slower. That KILLS highway MPG.
Maj I'd love to know the story behind that car plowing through the crowd.

usual drive is ~10 miles and the difference between going 75 and 90 is a minute or two....not worth it IMO
No one was killed.. no serious injuries.. a few broken bones. 40 cyclist hit.
