They are snow tires. I'll rock them maybe 3 months a year. I mean will it physically fit and other then the speedo being off are there any downsides?

as I said, they will fit....

and advantages of being a skinnier tire coz you need skinny in the winter....am running 225/45/17 on my winter wheels (they are supposed to be but since no summer wheels, I use them all year long LOL)....am running all season tires, I have never had an issue with it....

They're going to ride smooth as hell...you might not even have to slow down for speed bumps.

I'm glad you're keeping the car. There, I said it. And you already know that in 2 years you'll have cars on your potentials list.

This argument is bunk when talking about a good winter tire.

Hah. Well I've got a lot of things to finish up. Like this Nexus install. Several things I wrote down to do before selling that I want to do such as a professional carpet cleaning.

I setup our accounts to dump X amount into mine that I never touch every paycheck to get ready for a new car in two years. I may change by then but for now it's a S5.

Power isn't too bad with those either. $5k would put a coupe around AWD 450HP.

Edit: Now I have to do the 105k service.

I totally agree that I would have gone with 235 winter tire....but when riding an all season in the winter, 225 is where its at

Chad,

Maj gave me the stamp of approval on this kit
Amazon.com: Gates TCKWP329 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive Amazon.com: Gates TCKWP329 Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump: Automotive

According to John, he said the S4 felt more nimble to him but liked the look of the 5 better. He also had told me it'd be a LOT less than 5K to get that kinda HP.

I think I once heard Ron Jeremy sitting there arguing about how an extra 10MM would make a BIG difference in "ride feel"...

no one ever said anything about ride quality....for summers I want to (most of us on here) run 245 and 255 tire....so 225 will make is 20-30mm narrower....

what did Ron Jeremy tell you about an inch though?

Cool thanks.

Yea I don't know a ton about the B8.5's. I know the AWE tuning pulley and stage II software kit puts it at 420/400 for about $2000. $1000 for a better intake (15whp) and $2000 for downpipes and an exhaust (15WHP). That comes out to be about 450WHP for $5000. That's all AWE stuff though. There are many options for the sc'ed 3.0 v6...

Anil, why can't you ever just let a joke be funny without proving it wasn't what you intended to say?

I run 225 all the time
because NOT racecar.

I can't believe you posted that shit article. If the choice is between a Conti DWS in 235+ and 225, pick 235+. Plow through snow.. give me a fucking break.

The benefit of a wider footprint is traction. That means acceleration... and deceleration.

Lol. Well I made the move on those tires. I'll pick them up tomorrow after work. I didn't even attempt to negotiate. I'll take them for $200 happily. I'm just hoping I don't rub.

Blaze yellow five spokes coming soon!

LOL Maj...I ain't accelerating/decelerating fast enough to need 10 or 20 more MM. If I was constantly sliding all over the place then obviously I'd raise car up a bit and do 245. To be honest, I didn't like how the advans looked with thick tire on them.

$200?! isn't that $200/tire. Ad says new price $127/tire.

edit: ah nvm.. 127/tire on tirerack. Shit 200 for 4.. that's a steal even for shit tires.

Ah, just be honest then.. not because not racecar, but because form over function.

It's not that you don't need it.. it's will you regret not having it when you do?

Probably not, like removing the spare to save weight..

I have not done that...

I think if I did have an accident the first thing I'd blame is myself and my driving before making a lot of "what if" parts I'd have had. Shoot, back in the day 5000 pound steel cars were driving around with NO disc brakes and 175MM tires!

I read about this. If this is the same guy, he also didn't adjust the master cylinder distribution resulting in too much rear hydraulic pressure and locked them up.
