Maj...car shopping in my head. Thoughts on 100K+ E46 M3? 6MT, probably convertible...
Doubt I'll do anything about it...but they are getting close in price to what I can sell my TL for.
Curious and you seem to know a lot of sh*t.

Cabriolet? Turning 50?
Also isn't the convertible AT only and like a second slower on the 0-60? Or maybe I'm just confused because I'm tired of work. Either way.

6MT is a must...I've found a few verts in manual.
After owning the S2000...I miss being able to go topless.

I have had a running buyer lined up for somewhere between 10-12K. I wouldn't take less.
Meh...I'm talking sh*t. Just curious about what to look out for if the time ever comes.

Looked at the M3, all I can see right now here is 150K miles up ones or fetching $15K+
Also wtf I hate searching classified ads sites here for M3 (since it's never a model in the lists). All those people wtih i328 writting "M3 style this and that". Yeah ok, ima go stick some TLS stickers on my base TL.

I'm seriously considering 2nd gen CTS-V. Price is looking good right now with new gen coming out.

I think I financed 18k on it.
paid it off 3.5 years into a 5 year note. 6 months longer than I had anticipated. But paid it off before I get a reduction in hours.
Can't wait until gas prices are back at $4 a gallon.
I can't afford to drive at $1.90 per gallon a gas. I have no money to buy anything lol

Woowoo, Friday!
Work was busy yesterday so didn't get to internets much. Whoever was asking about a 100k mile E46 M3 'vert... do it up! Some things of note though.
They're pretty fun cars. Sound like a pissed-off chainsaw when you get 'em near redline.
In other news, I still have the Firechicken. The New York "buyer" texted me yesterday morning - "Hey man I got called in to work, sorry can't come down" - never mind he could come this weekend, next week, etc. I believe he never was going to come down.
Had someone else come meet me last night, he had asked if I'd take $2k a few days ago. I said no, not enough. Asked him yesterday if he could do $2500 and take it home that night and he's like "yeah, let me come look" - gets there and goes "well, I lost my job back in October and I already have two of these and I can only give you $1700."
If you lost your job THREE MONTHS ago and you already have TWO cars, why are you trying to buy a third?!?
Ugh, people.
Thankfully, I got three emails overnight about the car. Got a guy calling me this afternoon to talk about it before he drives up (allegedly) to see it.
My code reader + Torque couldn't connect to the ECU to read that code - I guess it's a common issue with old GMs and the new Bluetooth readers - so I pulled the battery and reset it that way, for science. Drove the car 20 miles and the SES light popped on again. So... going to take it to an AutoZone or something and have it read there. Their old-school readers should be able to give me some info. The second time it popped on, I was just sitting at a red light, at idle. So I don't think it's related to the high-revs, high-load like I thought before.
Getting a Pxxxx and using The Google will obviously give me a lot more insight than just "it hurts when I do this" - fingers crossed it's something simple.

- Rod bearings are a 100k maintenance item.
- They take 8 quarts of 10W-60 synthetic oil with every change.
- Have whatever you buy inspected at a BMW-friendly shop, every E46 rear subframe will eventually tear the floor out of the car if not caught and reinforced. M3s got some reinforcement vs. the non-M cars but it's not enough.
- Do not ever ever buy an SMG. It's the automated single-clutch manual gearbox and it's so fucking bad. And unreliable. The regular 6-speed with man pedal is fine.

Selling on the net is always like that for me. People are dicks. They either lowball you, but most of the time is spent waiting for someone to come by. That's why I stopped going out of my way to please people and try to meet at opportune times for them. If I don't have to be home, I tell them I won't be home instead of sucking it up and waiting for them and wasting a night of whatever.
One time some guy was expected around 7pm, I waited until 7:30 he never came so I left. I get a text at 8:15 (wtf?) saying he's downstairs but nobody's opening. I told him I waited a bit but he was supposed to come by at 7, he called me and whined a bit like a bitch and I never heard of him again. It was that much more ridiculous than the item was a freaking $15 zebra trunk I was selling for my GF.
Cheap bluetooth dongles often have problems with certain odb2 protocols, another one might just be fine. First one I got was shit, bought a second slightly different one and it's heaps better. Hopefully for you it's not much.
