I’ve figured out how to rile him up with tip toeing the line. But he then crosses over and starts throwing out insults, for which he regularly gets told to stop it.

But nothing ever happens.

I wouldn’t be a dick to him, but he comes off as such a know it all smart ass with so many of his points, you can feel people wanting to looooose their shit on him. New regime won’t start til we are back in Canada. I will measure him so I can calculate his total daily energy expenditure and put a meal plan together based on that. I’ll break it down for him and go over everything with him then. Give him options... if he does a bit of excercise... aka walking, he’ll be ale to eat a bit more. Stuff like that. I want to make it as easy for him as possible, so that he doesn’t give up.

But... he’s away from the all inclusive... that was horrible for his heart. He’s not eating great right now, but he’s not eating anywhere near as bad as he did the last week.

And please, my dad would never overpay for an AWD Accord. He’s much too cheap for that!

We shall see. He’s terrified of dying, which is odd given what he does to himself. If he decides to give up on himself, so be it. But I don’t want to stand idly by, doing nothing. It’s not like it’s breaking my back to do this for him. It’ll be harder on my mom as she does the cooking and what not. But she said she wants to drop a few pounds too and she has no issues sticking to something.

And yes, he can eat more. You can’t starve yourself. From your TDEE, you shouldn’t cut back more than 20% of your calories. Extreme would be 25%. Though you start burning more muscle mass, which is not what you want. You want to burn fat. The more muscle you have, the more calories you require to keep them.

If he’s burning more, he can eat more. Calories in vs calories out. It’s that easy. I need to watch what I plan for him, in terms of cholesterol content and what not. I haven’t really worried about that for myself as I don’t have issues (I get blood work done three times a year cuz of diabeetus)

He cant have pepperoni pizza, regardless. But he can have extra food fill his gut. Extra protein that lets him feel satiated longer. Or veggies. Or some whole wheat carbs, or whatever. It’s not a huge amount we are talking about here. Maybe 100-150 calories. But it’s the difference between feeling a tiny bit hungry throughout the day, vs feeling more hungry. Trust. I’ve walked down this road quite a bit in the past year.

he’s also moving 290 pounds for 30 minutes. It’s low intensity, but it adds up.

I get where you’re coming from, though. People go walk for half an hour and then think they can eat an XL blizzard from Dairy Queen. No, it doesn’t work like that. That’s why he needs to really watch what he’s doing, for best results. Doing no activity makes everything so much more strict.

My mom is going to be weighing and measuring everything he eats. He’s going to need to write down everything he eats. Everything. It only sucks for the first two weeks, but as long as you’re not eating too wildly, you learn quickly and it becomes real easy after that. He’s going to have two people trying to keep him on track. I think he can do it. Plus, he’s not the type to ever eat out. He’s too cheap to do so. He only eats at home and it will be controlled.

he won’t be doing this forever. It’s only a few months just to get him started. He can relax a bit after that... a bit more freedoms and what not. But he will have an idea what he can and can’t do. I’ll also include cheat meals in there. It’s hard to stay always on track. Cheat meals slow progress but help keep you focused. It’s all about the long term.

And if it all fails, so be it. At least I’ll hold solace knowing I tried, rather then being like “fuck it, I DGAF”, you know?
