Look, if it was all about one liners in here, we'd never get off the topic of dicks. Hmmm... Maybe that's the point.

You guys have any opinions towards garage floor epoxy versus those tiles

Are you talking about a polyaspartic floor coating?
The stuff is rather expensive, but fucking bulletproof and should come with a lifetime warranty. A friend of mine had it done in his three car garage and he paid a princely sum for it. But... A crew of three or four guys games in, cleaned every spec of anything on the concrete, repaired and sealed all cracks, etc., Then put the coating down. It took them three days, I think.
It looks amazing. It is amazing. But it's not cheap.

He also had one warranty claim in the last five years. It was a small patch right near the garage door. I don't remember what happened, but it was quickly and easily repaired. No other issues.

I ain't no prince. I was just thinking that Rust-Oleum paint it on yourself shit at home Depot.

Tiles will let shit fall between them and accumulate on the ground over time. Way cheaper. Looks pretty good. Likely a bit more of a pain to clean up a spill of any kind. Still looks better than nothing though.

For best results, it'll come down to how clean your floor is. The more prep time you put in, the better the long term result.

I'm more of a coating fan than tiles... I just don't like the idea of water being trapped under the tiles of ever hosing it down, or whatever. But opinions are like buttholes. We all have one.

That's my same concern in regards to tiles too. Glad I'm not crazy in my thoughts.. definitely get the whole prep being important thing, just like any other paint (blow) job.

what about that hard lay tile that isn't porous or open to let shit drop in them?
my coating was great, prepped prepped prepped...but, there were areas where the old cured concrete had a false facade of presumably concrete dust that the acid and citrus etching didn't get...so those areas would crack and sometimes lift when I'd roll my jack over them.
Good thing was I went and bought a cheap valspar kit and touched up every few months but it was annoying. Rustoleum stood behind their product though and gave me all my money back, which made it feel better because for a free epoxy floor...it looked pretty darn good

Hell yeah vato, plus the Rustoleum kit price isn't $$$$

It did look good. It's also nice if you can go up like 6" up the wall... just that extra protection if you're using a lot of water in the garage, or whatnot.
Personally, I'd likely go your route J, and just buy the rustoleum kit and repair as necessary.

A quarter size failure, on an otherwise 1000sqft garage... If I remember correctly, there was an issue with the floor in that area... they suspected it might fail and after 2 years, it did. I don't remember what the issue was, though... gonna ask. ![Zoom](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/zoom.gif)
no actual bullets were fired at the floor to test it's durability though. BRB...

epoxy is not bulletproof.. the base and prep is very important.
But simple shit like flake application can detriment the final product.
I'd say don't worry too much on the long run, but be sure to prep the fuck out of the floor.
Spend 4x time on prep than application.

I've seen some nice tiled garages. It just depends on the tiles and the price.
Tiles can just as or even more expensive than paying someone to epoxy your floor.

Yeah man, and here's a pro tip...if you go to the store, the kit they sold was the water based kit that wasn't as resistant to damage. They sell site to store online the solvent based one for the exact same price. Or at least they used to 3 years ago.
I'm with Maj though...if I were doing it again, I wouldn't have trusted the etching alone...I would have rented a floor grinder sander thingy and made sure I had a solid and open pore surface to start off with.
I like to be able to roll my jack, jack up and off and use jackstands without worrying.

Up early indeed since I have a fairly decent commute into the city. I start my paternity leave schedule tomorrow though so more time at home with the young boss
