Going to try making some portabella and black bean tacos tonight.

 

 

I picked up some chanterelle's at Costco the other day and have been carmelizing them with some flank steak for dinner I don't like some mushrooms.. but there are others that are

 

-style fish tacos for us tonight.

We grill some salted white fish (cod tonight) and then eat it on large nori, some sushi rice...condiments we use are some guacamole, spicy mayo, and pickled onions. We also will stirfry some sliced shiitake too. Pretty easy meal.

 

You don't like mushrooms, Hoisin?!?




Mushrooms FTW man. When it is possible and on special occasions, some thinly sliced truffles on eggs and etc. is to die for. Matsutake grilled or in soup is the stuff of heaven...

 

Heh, yeah, I cooked up a steak last night with pan roasted cauliflower and asparagus (day after stank piss FTW! ) and then tossed in a bunch of shitake with the steak juice in the cast iron pan. Cooked them up all nice.

WagonJr actually ate some, usually he's a hard pass on mushrooms. But he ate a couple and said he liked it. Which is good, because he didn't know tonight's entire meal was mushroom based.

We'll see how exited he is in a few hours.

 

I tricked him into eating tofu last week. Made up some tofu and black bean (black beans are the secret for all taco nights, round these parts, it would appear) tacos last week. I think he thought it was ground chicken. That one, I kept to myself and didn't tell him it was tofu.

 

I guess i should clarify that I don't like bad mushrooms.. (e.g. white button or the other run-of-the-mill varietals)

Speaking of black beans... haven't had jjajangmyeon in a long time. One of my favorite places to have it closed down a while back, though my next choice is luckily still kicking.

Gonna try and support them. Could also try to learn how to cook it myself
