it's the MIRROR actuators that need new grease...it gets bound up and hard over time.
Or you can replace them...or try regreasing them. As Cujo mentioned, if you put the mirror
in the center position it won't go down when you reverse...otherwise it'll drop down on whatever
side you have it set to.

Confirmed... I just finished regreasing both sides. The driver side is smooth again, but the passenger side is broken. The passenger at least goes up and down smoothly, but I messed up and pulled on the actuator too hard and it doesn't go left and right anymore. Will end up replacing in the future. The real issue is that the seats are programmed for the previous owner and I was trying to stop it from auto adjusting as I can't re-program. Only way to resolve I think would be to replace both actuators and hopefully it can be reset to my preference.

Appreciate the input!

Why can't you reprogram?
When you hold it down on "1" or "2" there's no audible confirmation beep?
There is something with keyless settings in the MID.
Also make sure the key you are using matches the number you are programming.

I had a similar problem even with brand new actuators. Any time I would unlock the car, it would move the mirror to some imaginary saved position, and it continued to do this no matter how many times I tried to update the memory. Since I'm the only driver, I wound up unlinking both fobs so the car doesn't even attempt to move the seat or mirror on unlock.

No audible beeps from pressing the memory button and no lights on the 1 or 2 buttons. Will see if the mid helps tomorrow.

Yea, this is what I'm experiencing. I don't have new actuators though, but it randomly moves on it's own when unlocked.

Will double check fuses. I checked them all a few weeks back and I was diagnosing what killed my battery.

Definitely appreciate the tips

I remember this now. The logic on this system locks the memory controls until the mirrors and seat are done moving. Something gets fucky and never registers as having finished moving to position, so the memory controls are effectively locked out all the time.

Since the seat was never moving, I suspected my problem was the mirrors. But those were new actuators. IIRC that left me with the option of either replacing the MSC unit (which would require removing the driver's seat), or I could just unlink my fobs.

My mirror actuators were bad on my TL and I got sick of them going crazy when I opened the door. I unlinked the fobs.

I have come to the realization that owning an aged luxury car loaded with aged technology sucks aged balls. As much as I love my Type S, I am tempted to find a desperate VW salesman and bend him over on trade-in value for the Acura to get my grubby mitts on a new GLI.

Ahhhh, this is probably what I'm looking for!!! Just unlink the fobs and it shouldn't go crazy. Thank you! Will report back later if this resolved the issue.

I agree, but no car payment is also a big plus

I tend to go at least 4+ years of no car payments. So I bought my RSX-S in 2006, paid off in 2010. Mrs had her 2005 Mazda3 (paid off in 2010). Bought MDX in 2014, paid off in 2019. Hoping for no car payments until 2023

Maintaining 4 vehicles is a PITA though lol

Reason #1 we got the Road Pig. My Taco was fine when all we had was dogs, but start adding spawns to the equation and the 4Runner made sense. I loved the 4Runner since I first rode in a 2nd Gen. I still have a soft spot for that one really but it was kind of a big victory to finally park one in the driveway after 20 years... And have an honest justification for it.

But yeah, hurricane evac isn't so much a concern any more. We plays it smart but don't sweat some details.

Although, this is some fuckin' bullshit... Found this Friday morning when were about to head out for a Dr appointment:
The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (ʎluO sɹǝsoo7)-dh4hmlq.jpg

That's like some straight up murder-rape boobies trap shit... It was a bullet casing with the lip serrated, and a nail in the middle of it, filled with sand. Must have picked it up on Thursday. The beefy tread block on the tire took most of the damage so it just lost air in my driveway, but that fucker would have hit a summer tire or a more worn down tread, it could have been a catastrophe.
