Although, this is some fuckin' bullshit... Found this Friday morning when were about to head out for a Dr appointment:
That's like some straight up murder-rape boobies trap shit... It was a bullet casing with the lip serrated, and a nail in the middle of it, filled with sand. Must have picked it up on Thursday. The beefy tread block on the tire took most of the damage so it just lost air in my driveway, but that fucker would have hit a summer tire or a more worn down tread, it could have been a catastrophe.
Yeah, it was all together very strange. Looking back, probably a little bit creepy too. Or I just have stupid luck. One of the flats I got in the wagon was from running over a razor blade. The guys at Discount Tire must be entertained. Probably not though.
A little while after we moved here, I found out that The Texas Killing Fields is, in fact, a real place. Really close by... So yeah... Close one this time. My first thought was MM trying to get my skinsuit. But since I didn't see any busted up Accords (aside from ours), I figured it wasn't him. This time.
Here's another strange tire incident that happened to my friend here in Houston.
it's very hard to explain this logically.
the head does look like it was rolled over...but rolled over by who? as it's in the sidewall.
perhaps a truck lost a load of nails which bounced all over the road and got stuck in his tire?! no way.
someone took a nail gun and shot in the air and it happened to land in the tire? no way!

If I were to channel my inner hooligan, I'd say the nail might have been wedged between the tire sidewall and the ground so it would get pressed in as they pulled out of a parking spot.
I have come to the realization that owning an aged luxury car loaded with aged technology sucks aged balls. As much as I love my Type S, I am tempted to find a desperate VW salesman and bend him over on trade-in value for the Acura to get my grubby mitts on a new GLI.
GTI is the way, especially if you can afford an R.
I agree on the aging luxury sedan.
With so many cars to maintain I lost
the desire to do so over the long haul.
Especially when parts costs are on the rise
as the model gets older.

Really? I thought they were holding steady for more money.

I tend to go at least 4+ years of no car payments. So I bought my RSX-S in 2006, paid off in 2010. Mrs had her 2005 Mazda3 (paid off in 2010). Bought MDX in 2014, paid off in 2019. Hoping for no car payments until 2023
Maintaining 4 vehicles is a PITA though lol
Preach...
had an 05 BOM RSX as well...were you on clubrsx or ivtec.net?
Maintaining a lot of vehicles is doable but I find you end up being
cheap on all of them since you have to spread the resources.

But yeah, hurricane evac isn't so much a concern any more. We plays it smart but don't sweat some details.
I have only ridden in the older ones...I found that they felt harsh and the floor board felt super high up like your knees sit up too high to be comfy.
With that said, they are so cool looking and run forever...I'm sure I could get over it but I'm a Honda guy at heart. I wish Honda made a viable option...
if you follow any of those lift/built element pages...they are pretty funny.
Ah fuck. Local VW dealer is overstocked: new 2020 base model (cloth seats, few options) Jetta GLIs for really cheap. Red 6-speed manual 24k, white 7-speed DSG 25k. Much temptation!
I mean I love the TL, this is my 10th year of ownership...but i mean, there are a lot of other cars out there, other than acuras.
some pretty fuckin cool ones, too be honest.
way better than acuras
Yeah, I did a dry run last night, and I'm glad I did. Couldn't log into the second layer of portals, and took a lot of digging to go figure out what the credentials were supposed to be.
Fuckin' kept turning it off and back on didn't fix it so I was really out of my element.
First session is done and now it's general fuckaround time. This is weird.
25 K for a nice VAG product NEW sounds like a win
assuming you love how it looks and drives.
Looks are total stealth mode boring.
Haven't driven one yet.
Base model 1.4t from previous generation (had a Wolfsburg as a rental car in Edmonton Canadlandia of all places) drove extremely well, much German road mastery in an inexpensive car.
