As for the investment angle. First, you're home equity loan is a tax deduction (interest, at least). With a little research, you could find some investments that make more than your equity loan, but you're right, it's not guaranteed.
Regardless of how you get it, get the TL.

saw the new IS at an auto show. I must say, I think it looks pretty hot.
Otherwise, get the TL, no question. A little risky to buy a used BMW, but that's just MHO.
