2nd Gen Type-S Shifter Fit 3rd Gen?

Anyone know if the auto tranny gear selector that is badged with the Type-S logo will fit the manual 04-08 shifter?

I don't think it'll fit the 6MT shift boot, but as far as screwing it on, you can always buy a threading adapter for it.

If you are talking about the 5AT gear selector on the 3rd Gen TL, then the 2nd Gen TL-S knob will fit

Yeah, I want to take the "Type-S" knob from the 2nd gen AT and stick it on my 3rd gen 6SMT stick.

Pretty sure that's not gonna work. Not unless you come up with some way to rig the boot.

bearcat is right, it wont work without some customization, find something aftermarket that will just screw on, thatd be the most straightforward way to go, an IMO look better than the 2g type s at shift knob

Thank you for the info, guys. The finish on my shifter is chipped so I wanted to replace it. I like the Type-S badging so I was hoping to find something that would work. I might just have to go with something generic.

HELL NO, it won't work i've already tried

i wanted to keep the Type-S knob when i swapped to a 6-speed.... but the threads/shaft is smaller on the auto, because it does not have to accommodate people "slamming" gear all the time

now could it potentially be drilled out to a larger size, so it will thread on, probably, i never tried, i just got the 3g 6spd shift knob instead...

Thanks for you input. I appreciate everyone's help but it's always good (or bad, however you look at it) to hear from someone who's tried it.

So what you're saying is you're running the stock 6 speed shifter?

from the 2g CL, BUT i have the stock 3g shifter knob though, and it screwed on no issues, along with even holding up the shifter boot from the CL (those clips on the bottom of the knob match up to the boot)

also the automatic knob also does not have any sort of a provision for attaching a boot, because the "shaft" was just chromed instead, instead of bare steel (or whatever the finish may be) like on the 6 speed shifter
