2nd Gear Recall

Because I bought my TL last Saturday I shouldn't worry about the recall correct? My VIN is included within the range of affected products however I'm assuming the dealership fixed it anyways...I'm getting a rattle within my sound system checked out this friday...should I just ask the dealer to see if the 2nd gear has been fixed also?

As I understand it, a dealer cannot sell a new vehicle with outstanding recall repairs. All stock on the dealer's lot has to be fixed before delivery.

With that being said, YOU are the one driving the car. I would double check with the service department. They can look in their computer to see if the recall service was already performed or not.

Brokedoc is right. But the double check would be better.

Where did you come up with 2nd gear recall? Please provide more pointers. I've been lurking on this forum day and night and I seemed to miss this one. POINTER PLEASE.

Transmission recall Link
Mostly covers 2000-2003 TL/CL/Accords but early 2004 Accord/TLs were also included.

What you meant?

Did you miss my garage posts? Check it out.

And, Brokedoc, why did you point out the 2G TL's recall info instead of 3G TL's?

Same recall. I did a search and that's what popped up first....you're right, though...it would have made more sense to link to 3rd Gen. since this is a 3G forum.

Rets, I've been looking at that thread but all it has is AT recall for some oil jet. Is there a recall for 6MT tranny for 2nd gear?

yeah i logged onto owner link but i don't know where to check if my car has been fixed? i checked services for it and it says none...i clicked recalls and it says, "Concerned about safety? So is Acura. That's why Owner Link provides up-to-date recall information about your vehicle. Because Owner Link recall listings are based on your Acura's Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), they are specific to your vehicle.

There are no current safety recalls for your 2004 Acura TL."

my vin starts with 19UUA66 so yeah...

Last six digit...

Also, you could check Garage and I have listed TSB copy out there.

That means your TL is not part of the 2nd gear oil jet recall. It's the last six of your VIN that determine it. Yours is a pretty recent purchase so unless it's been sitting around the lot it shouldn't be a problem.

You have to manually enter any services performed on your car in this section. There won't be anything there unless you enter it yourself.

No probs Rets. Even I got confused about Donkeykang. I thought he's got 6MT. Actually I mistook him for 6mtv6. I knew AT recall but thought even MT have got recalls.
