2007 Type-S headlight units question!!!
Before I buy 2007 Type-S headlight units I need to verify something from ya:
1. I would love to get left and right 2007 Type-S headlight unit, but I have 2005 TL. Do you guys think it would fit on my 2005???
2. Is there any place that I can get it for cheaper price than actual dealer???
3. How much is both left and right 2007 Type-S headlight units!!!???
Thanks!

forgot the name
they were going around for 900 shipped i beleive...pretty pricey.
ive been thinking of doing type S headlights on my 05 too...but the price is killing me....I think ull have a problem with the Day Tim running Lights...since our cars do not have it.
Just get a used 05+ headlights then take off the amber and paint the center black...and ull have a Type S looking headlight...thats what im doing next

I agree it would be much easier to custom ur existing lights than to purchase the type s lights, I've seen the inside of headlights painted body color (it looked awesome) also replacing the fog lights with projectors looks cool also, and then putting the fogs on the bumper looked awesome but also a custom job, but still cheaper than buying the 07 head lights

3.) Methinks around $800??

1) They'll bolt on to any TL. The TL-S grill is deeper, not wider.
2) You'll need 2006 ballasts as stated.
3)DRL is an issue...
DRL's are oriented upward, they intentionally shine light into the face of oncoming traffic, using a low wattage 5V bulb to not be offensive. They INTENTIONALLY go off when the headlights come on as to NOT blind folks at night.
Installing your stock 04-06 55W "fog bulbs" into these housing would make your fog beams as blinding as a highbeam at night. If you install them, do the neighborhood a favor and install a "DRL" module ($40- see Hamsar) to reduce the output of the fogs during the day, and force them to go off int he night.
BTW, I recently saw a lightly used set of TL-S headlights go on ebay for about $350 for the pair.
I almost jumped on them, but I LIKE my 06 style 55W fog, and I really didn't want to have to retro fit the lower fogs to "keep" my fogs... and as I stated, DRL reflectors are NOT fog reflectors. I like having DRL's too, but too much work to get all 3.

well yes thats correct but they are 55 watt bulbs the only thing that makes it different is the resistor. It cuts the voltage in have from 12 to 6, the relay is what makes a difference in one part of that.... i know some of the wiring is slightly different because the fogs are monitored on the 04-06 ill look it up in the manual when i get home because im sure it wouldnt be hard to get the drl relay to work. Oh and more thing the 07-08 models have the auto function for the lights so when it gets dark the light automatically turn on so that may play a role in there too

Fog light housings orient the light to cast it downward toward the ground. Installing the 55W fog bulb into the 2007 DRL housing would make your 55W fog a "high beam". Very unsafe.
The Hamsar is a "high faluten" relay, that could make your fogs work as a DRL (there's a sticky in the 3G on it). I HIGHLY RECCOMEND anyone who plans to use thier fogs as DRL in a 2007 retrofit install this unit.
I'm so glad that this thread was opened because I was under some wrong misconceptions. So I have an 06 TL, so basically I can just swap out to the TYPE S headlights and use my current existing ballasts if I wanted right? And I wouldnt have to make any bumper changes or anything like that? Because I have the RJ kit on and I was going to set up some HID lower fogs anyways.
thats so funny, I just looked it up and this is what I got
Daytime running light
9005
From sylvania.com
theres no diff between that and 9006 except the notches on the bulb....the wattage is changed accordingly because of the resistor in the relay.... and the DRLs cannot be aimed they adjust themselves to the orientation that the headlight is pointed in they dont have separate adjustment knobs. i have the manual at home it specifically shows resistance at the relay,04-06 and 07manuals it would not make them high beams either because they are left alone in the same fashion/direction the 04-06 fogs were pointed in. I had a type s come to my shop to do HIDs for it in the headlight n fog light and the light orientation was the same in the top lens. the only difference was that it actually had DRLs and that the inside of the lens where the DRLs point from are changed and look like projectors.

When you refer to the relay acting as a resistor , are you talking about the relay for the DRL, is it something that you can swap? for instance could I purchase a headlight relay for type s and
plug and play into the exisiting base 2005 HEADLIGHT relay , and now the bulbs are running at the correct wattage for the headlights?
Thanks

Also what did everyone do about the 7443 signal connector, its easy to but a 1157 socket and the bulb will fit but the socket wont fit in the headlight , so you go buy it from the dealer and it fits in the headlamp but has no pigtails(wires) so how has anyone dealt with this issue
Thanks kindly
