You may score a set o ebay in a FEW YEARS, after the market saturates a bit...

Suddenly $150 for headlight clearing doesn't seem so expensive.

I've noticed a ton of headlights on ebay, both with and without the ballasts and bulbs. Most are very reasonably priced and should be considered if anyone does not want to attempt any type of modification on their only factory set.

I have a friend of my in China said the Acura TLs will be available in either Oct or Nov this year. So hopefully my friend can get a set of it for me. If he does get it by then, I will post the price for it. I've talked to him and said they are almost done building a dearlership in Shanghai.

I like the side view mirrors and the speedometer cluster. Would we be able to swap the cluster and it light up blue?

OK, what I meant by OEM is the Mugen style Acura made as a concept or design study (I stated OEM to try and differentiate it from being aftermarket.) I know it's Mugen, not 07 style, I just worded everything wrong in my post, sorry. I was trying to say the 07 is a decent update (It is not the same as 06) but not as good as the Mugen and someone with connections should produce it (like supercomputers). I think that along with the 07 mirrors would be a good update on the 06 car. I just wanted to give supercomputers some ideas he could profit from because he could be the 1st do them. I don't want to hijack this thread so enough about that.

I too loved the Type-S tail-lights when I 1st saw it and thoguth it would look PERFECT on my anthracite since it's got that trim with that black-chromish look going. But now after studying it looks busy and complex even sorta cheap IMO. I liked it at 1st since it looked different but now that I'm used to seeing it it's just OK. I did a photoshop comparo of the S-type tail lights and 06 regular tail-lights with a light tinting job on it and I realized the present style is much better. I'm going with either rockblockers (cheaper, but darker than I want) or getting them professionally tinted (expensive). I'll do my turn signals with LEDs. It will look sleeker, elegant and sportier all together than the Type-S style. The thing is we can speculate all we want now but there is no substitute for seeing it in person. I will make my ultimate decision once I see it then.

I think that if the Type S tailights are reproduced there should be a chrome look version aswell as the smoked out version. I say this because that smoked out tail won't look good on all the colors the TL comes in. Pretty much, we need the chinese TL's tailights.

Compared to Type S: No difference on the tail lights......

Basically...there is NO "type S" tail lights .... its just plain old 2007 tail lights....same as on the regular version.

I agree. Count me in on the tails and a mesh grill (if you can design one). Dave, I have full confidence in your abilities.

Guys as soon as I can get the OEM pats I will ship them out to my guy. Tails and Grill and mirrors, we will see what we can come up with. You will be part of the whole process. I will show you mock ups and everything and you can choose what you want. This will be a fun project. Keep in mind it will take some time.

Thanks
Dave

Why do the 07 base taillights have clear LED elements while the 07 TL-S have red elements? Is it only because in all of those pictures from Autoweek the brake lights are being applied? I really think we need to see a closeup picture of the taillights with the brake lights off.

Guys So you all know a set of Stock 2007 Side Mirrors went out to Germany today. They will take a look at them over the next several weeks see how we can reproduce them. I am looking to cut hopefully 40% off the price of a factory set. I Will let you know how we make out over the next few weeks.

So you know the Illuminated Door SIlls in Red are now instock for the 04+ TL and the 99+ TL. I know many dont have the TLS yet but boy will these really set off the interior.

The 07 TL tail lights grew on me but now they look childish and ricey ... no offense to those of you that ar eabout to quick reply me with the nasty ways you plan on severing my joints for saying that LOL. Id rather tint them out to be honest and I know thats what I would do even after dropping $1000 to get them.

The Base TL tail lights might look pretty sweet if you get 'em tinted, too.

The Base TL Lights look pretty slick IMO. I like the clear/white sections. If I had to choose, I would probably choose the base over the TL-S tails.

Then again I own an NBP and am biased towards that picture

Can you get the mesh grill for the lower portion of the front bumper but without the fogs. I like the big mesh holes on the type-s

I agree - maybe I worded it wrong: I like the tail lights but I wouldnt pay the ridiculous amount of money Acura is going to charge - and yes they will - to have those nifty tail lights installed when I plan on slapping a 35 dollar tint on them lol.

New tails are only $200...
New side markers are another $75

To get the TL-S look you need the $200 housings, remove your LED base clusters and install them into the new housing.

To get the base 2007 look, you need new housings and LED base clusters. $400.

What would be really intersting... buy the TL-S housing and the "white" 2007 LED base clusters...

Anyone?

What about the Chinese taillights with the LED units from the Base TL, that would be an almost clear tailight, similar to the RX330/RX400

I had to get my mirror replaced last week bc the sensor wasn't having it turn down when in reverse. The parts guy would have have gave me a credit to towards the new 07 mirror (which is $280 I believe) and then put it on for me ... but I he said it might be costly to wire up the turning signal. I know it's probably just like 1 wire or something ... but wasn't going to mess with it. So I got the 06 mirror on again.

But now both mirrors are acting funny .... so we'll see if I get both 07 mirrors now, haha.

They are getting the 07's in dealerships now ... go by and see if you can check them out for yourselves. I've seen them at my dealer .. the tails, side mirrors, etc. are okay. Not crucially impressed, but they are nice. Subtle differences.

Also, they have the new MDX at my dealer as well. Don't really anything but the front and the interior.

07 tails on a 05 6mt

hey i keep hearing about the LED cluster on the new tail lights. will the 07 type S (or even the base 07) fit on the 05 ... without having to change any of the guts... kinda like a plug and play kinda deal?? also i want to remove and replace the red stock rear sidemarkers for the clear type s kind. Will i need to buy the LED cluster or any other parts or just swap them out???

It should fit, the guts would be the same, you are only changing the outside cover...for lack of a better term.
