So I have a friend that works for Saturn and gets lots of inside information on Saturn products. He has been boasting for the past few months about how Saturn Corporate feels that their new Aura will be an "Acura TL fighter". The TL buyer is specifically who they are targeting.

I was at the Chicago Auto Show today and saw the new Aura. It really makes me wonder what Bob Lutz is thinking. It shares way too many queues with the Chevy Impala (headlights, tail lights, etc.). The big 18" chromed wheels look very bling and sort of cheesy. It also has two big chrome vents at the top edge of the hood.

Anyone else here who has seen the new Aura online, in a magazine or at an auto show that has an opinion on this? I really can't believe that Acura is shaking in their boots.

My wife and I were at the Chicago Auto Show Charity Night preview and we didn't even set foot in the Chevy area. A couple people have asked me about such and such Chevy car, and I had to think for a second, and then remember we never even went over there. Honestly they sell nothing that even peaks my interest.

i mut admit, for a Saturn, it looks great. if the interior can live up to the exterior (which i know it wont since its GM and Saturn) it would be a nice ride. i wouldnt mind driving a car that looked like that.
Saturn really is kicking it up a notch compared to the past (ie ion)

While I wouldn't even dream of trading my TL in for an Aura, I do think Saturn is heading in the right direction with both this car and the new Sky.

Their cars have always been meh to me, but the new crop they're coming out with look much more exciting than previous offerings. I have to give Saturn a thumbs up for at least taking a chance with the new styling.

Saturn was suppose to save GM....it obviously didn't..lol....but this is definatly no comparison to the TL....nore is the Sky to the S2000........but it dosn't look terrible.....the only problem with saturns...is there logo....its terrible colors....a terrible shape...and its just terrible all around....the car looks beyond out of place with that logo...
