Has anyone done a upgrade to 07 TL rear tailight mod? I heard there was modifications with the led that needed to be done. Any insight on this? I was looking to upgrade to the regular 07 lights instead of the Type S.

 

the LED mod that you are speaking of .. is that people thought that you would have to change out the LED clusters since originally it was assumed that in the 04-06 tails that the LED clusters were white when lit behind the red plastic of the stock tail

it has since been proven that the stock LEDs LIGHT UP RED .. therefore no mod is nessecary

i just received my 07 base tails in the mail today though i have not installed them

so the stock LEDs in the 04-06 light up red right? Shouldnt it be understood to be that way in the first place since you need the same LED colored bulb as the cover to get the best light output? if you have a white led with a different colored lens on the outside, light output is dramatically diminshed since it is in a different colored spectrum.

 

i think the initial confusion was that people weren't sure if the LED's in the 04-06 were in fact RED or if they were clear behind the red plastic .. that obvis has been cleared up

 

I really want to see how this turns out. Please post some pics when you get a chance. I wondered if the 07 base LED board was layed out the same as ours. I like the base 07 lens better than the type s one, and am considering doing this mod if it's as easy as swapping out the taillight.

actually i did install one .. .went to install the other .. only to find out i had 2 right side tails LOL

tim is taking of the issue and i should have my new ones in a few days

but i will say this .. it looks SICK!!! ... ill be honest .. on a WDP .. the only way to go is the BASE tails ... def looks clean

as soon as i get my new set and install em .. pics will be up

 

So our LED boards are the same, and all we have to order is the taillight itself?

 

yes ... the leds light up red all you need to do is get the new housings and swap over the led boards and you are all set

Well if anyone wants to buy a set of 07 base tails I will let mine go once my Type S tails come in next week. I really prefer the 04-06 base tails over the 07 base tail. The Type S tail is nice so I am swapping to them next week, but have nothing to do with my 07 base tails.

Bad move... I have a CGP which is very close to AM.. belive me i have parked side by side... I took of my base and put the type s .. what a difference.

The base lights on th 07-08 base on look good on aWDP IMO......

Here was my problem.. whe the red led were up agains the white.. it gave some sort of pinkish color....

I personally think TLS tails look ricey. Just my opinion.

 

Is just a share of opinions....A lot of people tell me that they think the type s look ricey...but the base 07-08 doest do that car justince either.... I am nto sre if you see fom my picture the pinkish tone.
