I think are going to offer the SH-AWD that the RL has in the '09 model and remodel the RL for '10. Is going to compete with the '08 G35 AWD which is crazy. I saw pics down south on vacation of the cocept car(G35), but can't seem to find it here at home. I will probably buy the '08 G35 next year than wait for the '09 TL. From what I heard, the G35 is going to do 0-60mph in 5.5-5.6 sec the TL will do it in 5.9-6.3 sec. Both of these are still faster than the bmw 330i, but the body on the G35 is sick. The 08-09 GT-R is going to have the same AWD as the '08 G35. I never liked the G35 inside, but hope they do their thing this time around.

When is the new model year of the TL again? Is it going to be 2008 or 2009? Which ever one it is i will just wait for the new model year to buy one. I know they are going to look better this model years! at least i would think the new model year would look better!!

I'd bet a large amount of money that they'll add some clear elements to the taillights. It's cheap, they've done it before (with the MDX) and the TL concept car had them.

It's practically guaranteed!!

The third generation TL has been and continues to be such a success, it is unlikely a new body will appear before the usual 5-year change which will be the 2009 model.

You are correct. In Honda fashion the new Accord will debut in 2008 and probably be, overall, a better car and deal than the TL (think of the 03 Accord vs the 03 TL) - that will all change for 09, however, when the 4th gen TL will appear.

'09 is the new year for the 4th TL. I read it might have the awd that the RL , GT-Rand the '07 RDX is going to have, to compete with the '08 G35 AWD. The only thing is that is not going to be as fast as the G35. I was thinking, what's the lowest price you think I can pay for an RL at the dealer right now? I want to know the least I can do here in NY or NJ area. I don't think I want to wait for the '09 TL or update of the '08 RL.

How do you know how fast the 4th gen TL will be? And what's a GT-R?

I think he's referring to the Nissan Skyline GT-R

My only wish is that they don't screw up the looks of the car.... imo the First Gen TL's look way better than then 2nd Gen. While I do imagine it's doable, it's going to be one heck of a channel to make the 4th Gen top the 3rd Gen in looks.

This car is absolutely gorgeus.

The '10 RL is going to have a revised AWD system. It is going to be 8"+ longer as well with drivetrain moving to the rear, yes RWD. Is going to come with a V8 with 380+HP and displacement 3.8 liter, almost 3,800cc. Similar to the next NSX with V8 with more than 400+HP. A Hybrid version of the 3.5 will be available producing more than 350+HP. The '09 TL might still stay with the same 3.2, but Honda will improve its HP as they will match the HP with displacement. Is also known that it will get the awd FWD that the current RL has. So you'll see the next TL have something around the 285+HP range with torque being around 270+.They will have a low 5.9 - 6.3 0-60.

I am, I never was a fan of the 2nd gen's shape. I'm a very "visual" person and I tend to take notice of these things rather quickly.

Sometimes when you look at a car, you feel oh crap maybe this doesn't look good the way its been shaped or this should have been a tad smaller or they should've maybe dropped that a tad more.

And that's how I felt about the 2nd gens. I personally felt the car had an identity crisis - in that it wasn't totally on sporty side yet skimmed the borders of being luxurious and the lines seperating them were rather discernable. I personally never really dug it.

The 3rd gen on the other hand is fantastically constructed..... its got a feel of perfection from nearly every angle. The First Gen TL, Third Gen TL and 2006 3 Series are probably the only cars (off the top of my head) which I look at and given their constructions, cant imagine what they could possibly change to make it better. Very well laid out.

The fact you like the Bangled 3-series tells me all I need to know.

I'm not a fan at all of the gen1 TL. It was a little bit Legend, a little bit Vigor, and a whole lot of nothingness. One of the most boring cars Acura ever designed.

285hp is very little for 4th gen TL as the new camry has 268, is350 with 306, and bmw may be coming out with a 335i. 285hp is more reasonably for the 2007 TL facelift but maybe not that much, more like 270-280 hp. The TL right now is losing the horsepower battle bad especially to the new camry

Kamal, I also do not agree with your styling choices. For example, I love the elegance and understatement of the 2nd gen TL (especially from behind), but I feel that the 3rd gen feels rather awkward from behind. And the new 3 has overly simplistic lines, which are too heavily stated. The front 3/4 view of the car makes it look like some sort of kiddies toy car. If fact, I would venture to say that the new 3's roofline shape looks like that of a Suzuki Aerio's.

But, BMWs are still selling, so I guess that people like you are buying them.

AltexBX is saying that the 4th gen will have 100hp/litre I think, making it have 320hp.
The '07TL will have more than 270hp, since most people are already confused about the TL "dropping" its horsepower to 257hp. So 285 hp would seem reasonable (285 new SAEnet will= 295-300hp "old" rating, making it comparable to this year's G35 and the IS350).

I have a friend that studies abroad in Japan, so I get my sources from him. As with the 285Hp is going to have more than 285+, he doesn't know for sure but knows it will have morethan 285+HP. One thing he's telling me is that Nissan is improving the G35 3.5 engine on the '08 G35. I never been a fan of the G35 interior, but if they improve on that inside, with the new body style, I will guy the new G35 over the new '09 TL. For the '07 TL, I don't beleive they are going to do much on the engine side. They will address a few prob on the Tranny, interior, update the Navi system(more voices, cars update, more POI, brighter screen, etc), change lights, side view mirrrors, and rumors is that they might have a a new A-spec kit for it.

To each his own, the one thing you liked about the 2nd gens is in fact what I disliked the most, i.e. the rear lights, I simply thought the 2nd gen lights were made unecessarily large, but their size was made to "accomodate" a trunk that was shaped even larger.

The third gen is very well put, one of the biggest reasons I'm setting an earlier purchase date for the TL is for the fear that they might change the shape of the 4th gen (to one I might not like). The third Gen feels complete all around to me and far from the "awkward" you state.

And if this agressive style looks like a "toy" to you..... what more can I say

I can confirm most of this. Went to the dealer yesterday to pick up some parts for my TL. While waiting I talked to a salesman, who is also a TL tuner and has been in the aftermarket industry for a long time. There will be a new model positioned above the RL. The RL will get a V8. TL will get a Type-S with a bump in HP to a real 300HP next year. Next model change will get AWD. The NSX will get a v10 twin turbo. At the parts counter the manager confirmed the salesman credentials and this info.

You mean the '07 G35 (or G37 according to one source). I read on another forum that the next-gen G sedan will be introduced at the New York auto show in April with the first vehicles reaching Infiniti dealers as early as June/July.

The fact that you are trusting a dealership as a source of future model information means you've lost all of your credibility.

Dealerships don't know shit about future models... not any more than the public. You think car companies, especially Honda/Acura, tell the dealerships the details of their future models? Get real.

Unless he studies abroad as an executive at Honda, I doubt the information is credible. Honda is one of the most secretive companies when it comes to future models. They are almost always tight-lipped about their new models.

Oh, and all that information regarding the next generation G35 has been public information for some time now. And it's also been public information for a long time now that Honda is working on a V8 engine for the RL and the Ridgeline. So it doesn't give any credibility to your friend who "studies abroad in Japan". WTF... Japan doesn't even get our version of the TL. How does a study abroad student know so much? I'm calling serious bullshit here, especially because 1. Honda wouldn't release information in Japan regarding an overseas model and 2. Honda is very tight-lipped about their plans.

Never have I seen Honda do a redesign on their aero kits during a model lifespan, and Honda already said the Type-S label is gone. It's replaced by A-spec, and HFP.

Sorry, but it just sounds like you're making it up as you go based on the bits and pieces you heard.

oh what amI talking that was about 09 TL. 07 won't get new stuff like that it cost too much for manufacture and so on

I honestly suspect clear tailght, revised front end and maybe 10HP boost with better intake/exhaust

I think it will probably also have some new wheels and an extra color or two....mild update on the interior as well.

I herd the 08 models are going to have a porta potty in the backseat along with a snack bar. Also there are "rumors" that it will sport a 700 hp engine with detractable wings coming from just beneath the doors. Seriously...no one knows what Acura is going to do except the people at Acura. So anything you read here is purely speculation! Carry on though, I like reading this thread.

There is 85% that the new '07 TL will be here in NYC in April, along with the RDX. Is definite having more than 273HP.

So I have another reason to take A train to 34th street in April for the show (besides the 2007 G37). My camera is definitely going with me.

I'll definite will be there at least 2 days. I was goign to buy the '06 RL for 41K, but the curry acura dealer couldn't do it. They wanted at least 43K. Anybody recomend a Acura dealer here in the tri-state area for a good deal. Also, I think i'm just going to wait to see what they have in the auto show before I buy.
