I don't know if it's just me but anyone notice a firmer power steering feels after the recall? or maybe just the difference between the RDX loaner and me in my car right after...

Got my letter yesterday. Taking it in on Wednesday, asked them to reserve a 2012 SH-AWD for me as a loaner car and they said no problem.

<rant>

I was coming up on my next B1 service, so I called the local dealership to schedule an appointment (for last weekend). My car didn't show up as being affected by the recall, and the dealer confirmed this. Multiple times. So, what do I get in the mail yesterday? A recall notice. I already hate wasting my time going to the dealership, so having to do this dance all over again just irritates me further. Acura needs to do a better job of updating its own database in a more timely manner.

I got the work done on Friday. Had a TSX as a loaner which had very light steering compared to my car. When I got my car back, it seemed that it was heavier than before, but perhaps it was the same as before.

I called my dealer about this recall a few weeks back and they informed me that mine was replaced before there was ever a recall. They said a few visits back they noticed my tubing looked rough and replaced it. They told me this was how the recalled started because dealers were calling into Acura stating the were seeing a lot of TL's with this issue.

One thing though the CSX chassis is really good. I threw that loaner around and it did not squeel or understeer at all. Then again I'm comparing a CSX to a TL which is much heavier.

The CSX's motor is not bad its no v6, it's noisy but for city driving it does the job.

But I'm back in my TL enjoying it!

I called and asked and the lady on the phone said it will take ~2 hours. They also asked if I was going to wait or wanted a loaner.

I told her I wanted a loaner and we have a appointment on Friday @ 2pm.

I really want a 12' SH-AWD TL as my loaner, as I have read that someone on here managed to get one.

Do you tell them over the phone what loaner vehicle you would like? Or do you ask when you get there in person? Or is it whatever they decide to give to you?

Here's what I did. I told them that my parents were looking for a new car and I that I would really like to see them in an Acura. Since I have a type-S, I was asked them if they could give me a SH-AWD because my parents really liked mine a lot. They see this as an opportunity for a sale and are happy to provide you with what you want.

if you guys want a loaner, you should ask for it while making the appointment, they normally have them all out to people who request them before hand. I've had a CSX, TSX, TL, RDX even a ZDX before. I'm hoping to get a M or Z tmr

what JJH said about get a certain model makes sense but than again, its all depends if they have them or using certain models as demos/loaners.

well Acura has one chance to redeem this fault by giving out loaner. I think most of us on Azine all into loaner lol. I wouldn't mind it at all.

My dealer gives you the same model car that you have in for repairs and again - you need to collectively decide that a loaner is needed. Only have gotten TLs and MDXs with one exception of a TSX.

When you get a loaner, do you have to return the car with the same amount of gas that was originally in it before you drove off the dealership lot?

Say they give you a TSX with FULL tank of gas. When you bring the loaner back to pick up your vehicle, does it have to have a FULL tank of gas or is half a tank or nearly empty tank OK?

^they had a sign on the counter of the dealership yesterday about that.

short answer, yes you do.

long answer, if you get a loaner with a full tank you gotta return with a full tank BUTTT if you get a loaner with 1/4 tank just make sure its 1/4 when you bring it back...otherwise they charge you $6 per gallon of gas missing. a classic stealership move.

The dealership I go to has a bay setup right outside the service desks. They have one lane for people dropping off and another lane for their loaners. The 2012 SH-AWD happened to be the next in line for me. If I was one person back I would have gotten an MDX.

And yeah its totally a sales thing. Give them top of the line new and maybe they will come back and buy one.

My '08 Base TL was covered under the recall. The repair was completed at Acura of Peoria inside of 2 hours. Plus, FREE WASH!

Absolutely. My dealer has me initial for gas / no smoking in the car and no use of EZ Pass each independently. Admittedly, I have never seen anyone check the gas level when I have returned, but they have all my contact info plus my cc at the time of rental.

You mean free swirls.

I dropped my TL off earlier today. Appointment was at 2PM, arrived at 2PM and was given a loaner and left at about 2:15PM. I asked if I could specify which loaner to get but I was told it's whatever they have available. I was given a base WDP TL w/ navi.

I really like the interior. Still like the 3G body style better. 3G body style + 4G interior would be a killer combo. The navi display looks like a nice upgrade. Looks a lot clearer. Takes some time to get used to because you control it with a knob/dial rather than touch screen... So you gotta figure out the buttons and what not.

Dropped the car off at 2:15PM it's now 6:15PM and I still have yet to receive a call back... I was told it would take about 2 hours, so much for that...

DOES ACURA CHARGE YOU FEES FOR RENTALS WHEN YOU HAVE THE RENTAL FOR LONGER THAN EXPECTED?

I did not anticipate for my car to have to be there over night so they better not charge me a daily fee.. I was not even notified, warned, or even told anything about fees if I were to have the rental for more than a day. I was expecting to have my car back by the end of the day..

for some reason I have this feeling in my gut that I'm going to receive a bad phone call tomorrow morning. I bet they fucked something up and are carefully thinking about how they can blame it on me since the car is modded. I should have told the service advisor that my car is dropped 2 inches so he could tell the driver to be careful and mindful when driving it. I'm thinking they probably broke or damaged something and are going to try and get me to pay for them to fix it.... I know damn well that my car was 100% operable and fine when I dropped it off.
