Hello.
Just wondering if anyone has heard any whispers regarding a TPM on the 2006 TL.
With the government mandate, I thought for sure there would be on on the 04, but it was not. Nothing on the 05, either. Now that the MDX and RL have one, I was hoping 06 would bring it to the TL.
Anyone have any insight here?
Thanks.

"American Honda Motor Co.'s Acura Division has created awd versions of both its RL and TL sedans. And Nissan North America Inc.'s Infiniti line is planning an awd version of its G35 sedan, as well as its new M35 flagship. Mercedes-Benz USA LLC in September began offering all-wheel drive as a free option on S-class sedans."
i got that from the website. hopefully thats true for the TL and it will come out by 2006.

Acura should bring back a TL styled sports coupe with SH-AWD and a bump to 280hp on the 3.2 V6 in order to compete with G35 coupes and the like. This new sports coupe should be called the CL. heh
Another one to bring back: 280hp SH-AWD Honda Prelude priced at 30k as a 350Z competitor.
Nissan proved there is still a market for these sports coupes. Might as well jump in.

The lease on my TL is done next year and I wanna see some new stuff, i already like the TL as it is but i want some differences like...
-Rear Wheel Drive!!! so i can freakin drift (im not a big fan of AWD or FWD)
-285+ horsepower!!!
-fold down rear seats
-take out the useless cassette player (i've only used it once for my iPod)
-lighter flywheel
-more responsive throttle
-throaty exhaust
these are the things i want, you might not want them but i de

Didn't the last TL change quickly? The TL had one front end and then blam it was like a whole different front end. And the change was very noticable up front, it must have pissed off the early buyers.

My short wish list for 06, trying to be realistic, would include:
Ventilated seats
Smart key system
Tire pressure monitor
Driving/fog lights, down low
Time will tell.

the rl transfer the power front to rear, and at the rear it can go left to right (outside wheel in a corner), but the front cant/wont go side to side....
so you are correct it just doesnt transfer power to all the different wheels as conditions permit

bmw vanos is vey similar and very effective... toyota has a similar setup as does porsche
but nissan and ford only have the cam phasing. they dont have a second profile to work with
so although auto makers have caught up the hondas have the same ability to have the punch right now.... if the motor was setup for it

2006 Tl Acuralink
Does anyone know Acuralink will be added to the 2006 Tl. I would love to have real time traffic reports displayed on the navi system.
Thanks,

I do hope they change the front end styling.
Honda styling usually comes out stupid and improve a lot in the mid-cycle facelift.
You guys can compare the look of TL: 99 Vs 02 , Civic 01 Vs 04, ....Conclusion is the styling in the later half of the 5 year life cycle is usually much better the the first half.
The current TL's front end is really bulky and beefy, its just like a big chunk of meat, can't teel where is the muscle, where is the bone, and where is the fat.

When does Acura usually make the '06 announcements? And when can one place an order for the new model year? The reason I ask is because I'm in the process of purchasing a car and TL is my top choice, thanks!

I think that the 06 will include the keyless ignition. This seems to be a big thing now, especially with it in the RL, Infinity M, new Lexus and BMW.
They will probably make some other small changes in design, as well as some sort of AUX imput.

Realistically, mid-model cycle Acura is NOT going to change sheetmetal or drivetrain. Here's some minor stuff that would go a long way and not cost acura much:
Revised bezel to divide display on non-navi models. Seeing the shadow mask behind the screen really looks cheap.
MP3/WMA capability
Revised front grille - thinner, more subtle, lose the juvenile superhero chest badge look
revised design for rims
brembo brakes, and LSD for AT models
upgrade bluetooth to display alpha caller id from cellphone
simplify wiring in armrest for cellphone.. move powerpoint to back and put keyhole slot in back of tray
Yellow foglight bulbs
Blacked out headlight bezel
Aluminum pedals with raised black rubber crosshatch design to match interior trim
New color options

an Acura has-been
We do you think there will be a revision in 06, Acura is on a 5 year cycle to reduce costs (they have not been on a 4 year for many years, no maker (at least that I can think of) is on a 4 year cycle anymore.
It is the 4th year that gets the refresh, so the car stays fresh for the 4th and 5th years to keep sales up.
So you will have to wait till 07 to see any changes to front bumper and rear bumper and any light changes.
I think you all have wishfull thinking, especially since sales are so strong, they will not make any cosmetic changes inside or out.

Also a pass airbag override was added in 05 to allow you to put your vermins up front for better aim with the flyswatter.
Sounds like Acura will try to improve the TL even with strong sales.
