2006 TL Disappointed
I was seriously thinking of getting 2006 TL-NAV as my next car after my 2003 TLS-NAV lease ends in Feb 2006, but i was disappointed my the minor changes they have made, i was hoping that the front grill will get some face lift, the front and the side profile really don't do any good to this car in my opinion, the new BMW line up kicks serious Ass as does the Audi line up, I will now consider either M3 or A6. I don't buy the price argument that much, value for money does not mean you don't fix some thing as basic and front grill, rattles, tyre quality, dash fade etc.
when you want a good car you want a good car, yes you don't pay $75K extra, but I guess $10-12K for something far better is worth doing.
Though a part of me says to extend my lease till 2006 Oct, and wait for 2007 TL and hope they do some serious make over, guess I'll await the responce here??.

2018 TLX A-SPEC
I say go buy a Euro and then wish you would have bought the TL. To many friends to count went the Euro route and all I hear is them bitching about it and the costs to maintain and mod it

2006 TL Upgrade
I just read that one of the upgrades on the 2006 TL is thicker glass to insulate from the outside noise. I thought they had already done a great job at noise abatement.

Restricted colors on 6MT
It appears that you can only get blue, white, black, and silver in a 6MT and you cannot get parchment or camel interior.
If you want parchment or camel or one of the other colors, you have to an automatic.
Try building a 6MT with Navi and HPT and see what color choices it gives you.

I feel exactly the same way. I couldnt believe we are using the same keyfob as the 3 years old RSX. I live with my bro and he has the 2002 RSX and that key fob is so beat up and quality is not good at all. Shouldnt they go with at least the accords keyfob. Thats one of the many reasons I am going to get a RL instead.

I'm so glad I didn't have my hopes up to possibly get a 2006 and think anything had improved. After finally coming back to the forum and reading for a day I see this:
Acura hasn't gotten any better to their 04 and 05 owners.
the 06 won't be any better,
my Abyss Blue will be gone.
So ya know what i"m pricing up now ?? a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4. go figure. Aside from the CTS-V, there is hardly any other car out right now that I like, that's pretty sad.

Next model year will be the year the TL goes through it's update. Sales remain strong so why should Acura do things early. The TSX has been on the market for a while longer and with new competion coming out it was due for some work to help keep it fresh. The RL needed to add the Tech package to keep what demand up and truth be told the Tech package was coming anyway.

yea get a truck buddy and enjoy paying 100 bucks for a tank of gas. They are most likely changin the TL for 07 just like the 99-01s being the same, i noticed some of you saying that was 2 years but you re not thinking about the year 00 remember that. Anyway from what I know they will have an all wheel drive 300 hp Type S in 07 but that is rumoured not comfirmed.

AWD is a reoccuring rumor born out of Acura stating that SH-AWD can be used for any existing V6. We do know that it will appear on the RDX. 300 hp would be nice as they need to do something since the HP rating is less then before and would been seen as a major power increase. However, I wonder about the RL if this happens.
I'd like to see a performance hybrid that is just that. Forget about the extra fuel that will be saved. A hybrid TL will not get you to 60 mph in 5 sec and return 50 mpg on the highway.

When the TL was introduced and the stated hp was 270 it was said that a Type S wasn't needed and that 270 was good for the moment.
I will admit that it will not be the first time Honda has been deceptive (No, we will not build a pickup truck as it doesn't fit our line up) and witness the Ridgeline. The next NSX was an on again/ off again project that was probably never really off to begain with. The RSX was rumored to be canned but now it may not be.
I have no doubt that a more powerful TL is coming next year and have no doubt that AWD could be apart of the package as I've stated before the TL is considered about perfect with only one blimish and that is the power is being sent to the front wheels. I would like to see them make A-Spec a factory model with go fast parts and a nice enhanced look.

The Type-S moniker is dead... and all Acura dealers are "precision team" it seems, and if Nalley Acura can be one, then I can get chimps to work on my TL and be certified "precision Acura team".
I don't forsee SH-AWD on the TL this model cycle. My prediction is this:
The redesigned 2008 Accord V6 will have SH-AWD, and the TL will be left to flounder with FWD it's final year before a redesign. This is usually the way it goes with Honda since the cycles for the Accord and the TL are one year off, the Accord being redesigned first. For that one year (1998 and 2003 are examples) the Accord will be better than the TL. After that, it goes the other way for 4 years. It's a chain - think about it.

Honda will only provide AWD for its Acura Division. That will allow them to distinguish the models from the Honda Accords, Civics, etc.. The Honda Pilot, CRV have 4WD.
Also, the SH-AWD will probably be ONLY in the RL until both the TL and RL's are fully refreshed (2009 or 2010). A mid-year refresh in 2007 won't bring SH-AWD to the TL.
In 2009, who knows what Acura will have. Possibly a S-Class type sedan and of course, the new NSX !

I do believe the Accord will get SH-AWD. It's inevitable, it seems. The Accord right now is nearly as powerful as the TL. Plus, whatever the JDM version of the USDM Accord is (what's it called?) has been tested with it.

I doubt the Accord will get SH-AWD but rather the new version of Real-Time AWD which will leave this system for Acura. Now I could be wrong and Honda could benchmark Audi/VW and use their approach for Quattro (Honda could call it something else.

Not sure what the update will bring for next years TL but I'm sure a power increase is coming. Since the hp is now rated at 258 or so and not 270 than this could buy Acura more time to justify FWD. When the TL was still rated at 270 Acura indicated that the TL was pushing the limits of FWD and that much power. So, now they could forget that statement was made and thus push power to 290 and then make the same claim.
The only problem is that 290 is close to the RL's. Acura could follow the lead of Lexus and have the middle offering more powerful then the top offering (which I think it should do anyway) but that may crowd the RL since unlike the GS and LS there isn't that much of a difference equipment or size wise between the two.

FWIW, the power output is exactly the same as for last two years. The rating system changed, not the output of the engine.

I will say with "only" a rated 258 I can imagine what 270 would feel like.
