taking a interiro tour of 2005 TL on the acura.com website shows the 6spd shifer and is labeled "Type-S 6-Speed Manual Transmission, 2005 TL Interactive Showroom"

what's with the use of "type-s" ???

most definitely typo
all the interactive showrooms have errors in them, causing a bunch of threads to pop up speculating over stuff that doesn't exist. these are the ones i've seen:
rsx showroom says it has bi-xenons and led tails. it doesn't, but the 04 tl does
tsx showroom says type-s available w/ 210hp. obviously referring to the rsx type-s
and now the tl showroom saying type-s 6speed.

 

maybe anyone with a 6MT has a type s version and we just don't know it.

 

Acura has showroom errors like we have spelling errors on the forum!

 

This brings to mind the famous side mirror turn signal fiasco of this time last year.

 

true and sad. when will they learn....??

 

They should promise what they advertise.
