I voted "Above most cars" because the rattles, vibration and alternator whine bring it down from awesome until the issues are fixed.

I voted for excellent. If RWD/AWD were available, I'd change my vote to awesome car.

I voted excellent, but the poll choices seem a little odd. Is awesome better than excellent??

If the choices were like the following:

-Poor
-Fair
-Above Average
-Very Good
-Excellent

I would have chosen "very good" in that case. The only areas the TL is lacking is in steering feel and the lack of AWD IMHO. Otherwise, GREAT CAR!

I laugh every time I see someone post their digs in on the TL (constructive criticism is welcome). Like it's somehow it's their responsibility to bring the TLers back to earth.

there are so many things you could used. The examples you used are too common, that is whay I tried to be a little different........

the awesome I guess kind of go together, I was thinking awesome was better than excellent, because the reaction.

The dinner was excellent . The dinner was awesome :wow:

You could make your own poll, just in case you didn't know.

Above most cars is very vague. It could mean: 1. Above most cars in its price range 30K-35K? I would answer - yes, 2. Is it above majority of cars on the road? Yes, again, since it is above Taurus/Toyota/Honda crowd, 3. Is it above most cars model-wise? No, it is somewhere in the middle. Above basic transportation and below luxury and sports cars. In other words it is better that Corolla, Camry, Avalon but is not as good as Lexus GS or LS.

I get it!

Bitium,

Thank you for the pole thread... It's straightforward and makes sense to me why some folks insist on turning everything in to a jigsaw puzzle, I'll never know.

Awesome! You really have to consider the price of the car and all of its standard features to appreciate it fully. The criticism on this site are minor nit picking which is typical of any car, especially more so on some others. But, considering the price, you really can't beat this car. Just go and price any other car with the same standard features as the TL and you'll see - I did before buying this car.

I voted for excellent, but actually excellent and awesome are pretty much the same meaning right? The 04 TL is an excellent car, but still could be better.

I voted excellent... but I dont own one... I'm here doing research... and right now the TL is #2 on my list. If it was RWD it would be 1 because I've owned an Acura for wow 13 years now and its caused me 0 problems. I know the 04 car will be just as good. Everything I read and hear about the new TL nothing but excellent feedback... but I really wish it was RWD! So for now the M3 sits at the #1 spot... but value, performance, styling, reliability all go to the TL.... I dont have much expience with BMW cars.

I agree that TL will be more reliable than M3. Value on the other hand is relative. How can you compare sporty family sedan to the one of the best handling cars on the road. It is the same as saying that TL is better value than CL55. Does not really make much sense. Performance is going to M3 as well as styling (MHO). Image and prestige go to M3 too. So we down to the only one question will $20K buy more enjoyment if spent not on a car but somehow else? Travel, eating out and so on. Everyone has his own answer.

I see your point... but all that performance the M3 will give me dont mean **** when I'm stuck in slow ass traffic! LOL I'm not into the whole image thing either... I like car for what it does/has not who its made by. Sure the manufacturer plays a slight role, but if Yugo built a great car I'd buy it if it fit my needs.

Plus that 20K I save will make it easier to buy that new 04 R1 I want and a custom chopper!

I agree. Excellent is an appropriate rating for a sub $35K near-luxury sedan. If Acura had adaptive torque distribution, like another car maker's mid-sized sedan whose name I will not mention, it would be the perfect car. But the TL beat the other car in so many other areas (fuel economy, weight, tire size to name a few) I can tolerate the torque issues when cornering.

I testdrove the other car, again won't mention the manufacturers name but it rhymes with divinity, and I was very unimpressed with the smoothness of the ride, the uncomfortble seating, the road noise and the weighted down feeling of the car. But there weren't any torque problems due to the AWD 0:100 ratio on the front/rear wheels which was very pleasing when taking corners agressively.

Thumbs down Re: 2004 TL Rate it!!!! POLL...

As today we only have 227 votes, after deducting a couple of voters who might not have 04TL, I cannot believe there are only less than 1% of 04TL owners participating in this forum. (if Acura has sold 23,000... until today)

Bad... very bad...

That's why Acura never pays attention to us, to our topics, vibrations, tires, assemblies, etc...

I just got a beautiful Anthracite with Auto/Nav. I love the car, maybe I'm a nit picker but I wish it had rain-sensor washers and auto-on headlights. I also find the dash a bit bright at night - if I turn it down then I can't see the inside instruments. But I've only had it a few days. I love the way it drives, it's quiet, tight, and much more fun than my F-150 used to be!

Is this site only having less than 1% of 04TLers?

If Acura has sold more than 25, 000 04TLs, we're just the small group of ppl discussing this 3rd generation TL stuff over here.

That's why dealers sometimes are mad we've obtained too much BS from Internet...

As far as the small number of participants in the forum.....this site is something that someone would have to actively look for. Acura does not provide new customers with the URL to the forum....and even if someone does a "Google" search, they may only stumble across the site by luck. Not everyone who buys the car may be a fervent enough owner to want to participate in a forum...and there ARE people who (gasp) actually do not LIKE using computers. Until there is a more concrete way of distributing information about the existence of the site, it's hard to determine why more TL owners aren't here.

Personally, I think the car is awesome. I semi-regret not getting the NAV, but it was just a little too much for my wallet...and I will survive without it. I DO wish Verizon would get their ass in gear and come out with a BT/HFL phone!!
But I am having a great time cruising in my TL...without a doubt, I made the right choice for a long-term vehicle!

I rated it a good because of the stupid flaws, and the treatment received at dealerships and by corporate.

But are we not a biased lot?

Screw the arguments about RWD / FWD / AWD how
about real world living in MHO the ' 04 TL is best for bang for buck to come along in long time.

I love my new tl. I currently own a 2000 tl, as well as the new 2004 tl. My 04 is black with nav and 6 speed. rear deck spoiler and tinted windows. The stereo is awsome and the technology is a step above the compitition. I just wish nextel would offer a bluetooth enambled phone.

This is my first Acura and have to say I love this car! It handles extremely well, nice ride, quieter than most, acceleration is awesome -- it likes to go fast The sound system and technology also set it apart.

Just found this forum, so I'm new here. Any advice will be appreciated. We are looking to get new wheels and like the ones on the acura-tl.com front page. Any idea where they can be purchased?

Above most cars, but if it performed as advertised, then I would rate it much higher. Mine has WAY too many problems in the first month and hasn't worked correctly since day 4 of ownership. I wish I could consider it Excellent or Awesome (which is what I fully expected of the car prior to purchase).

AWESOME!

I waited to vote until I had a few hundred miles on the car. Break-in time is so boring, and I finally got to give it a ride today. I can't believe how awesome this car is in every way. It's not too bad looking either!

Happy New TL Owner

I had to contribute to this thread. I just bought my TL last weekend, and it really is an awesome car, as well as an excellent value. I considered some more expensive cars and I'm glad that I didn't buy any of them. This car is fast, sleek, rides great, handles well (perhaps not as well as a 525i, but how often will I notice the difference?) and has an interior and sound system that wouldn't be out of place in a $60,000 car. The ergonomics of this car are excellent. I had no trouble getting used to the controls and felt quite comfortable with them within a couple of days. The TL is also a blast to drive. Two of my friends have E55 AMGs. I'm not comparing the TL to an E55. The E55 is arguably the finest sports sedan in the world. However, the TL stands up to the comparison in every important way. When I get into my TL, I get the same feeling of stiff structural rigidness. The interior has a velvety quiet. The sound system rocks. The leather is supple and the seats are comfortable. The cabin has all sorts of seductive multicolored nighttime glows. The technology is state-of-the-art. All-in-all, this is one great car.
