2 TL's hit by 1 Camry
2 TL's hit by 1 Camry
How's it going everyone, I hope your week has been better than mine. So, I came home to NorCal for leave (Marine stationed in SoCal) on the 14th, 6 days later on the 20th my 05 TL and my neighbors 07 TL were hit by a Camry. My mom lives in a townhouse so there's only room for a car in the garage, which holds an IS300, so I park on the side street like everyone else. Anyway, the dude who took out both our TL's had a medical condition, from what I heard it was a heart problem. Something happened while he was driving and he was unconscious and rammed first into my neighbor's TL whom was parked behind me, and then into mine, forcing mine to knock into a Solara parked in front of me. Fortunately none of the 3 car owners were in the vehicles at the time. The guy who hit us apparently tried to flee (run) the scene, with a heart problem.. Seems kinda sketchy already if you ask me. The owner of the Solara lives in front of where the accident took place, and according to her he called his girlfriend to come pick him up from the scene to flee. She called the police and stopped him and her from fleeing, since the police were already close by. I love my TL (6mt) and have had it for a year and when I heard and saw my TL I felt like a piece of my heart just withered. My insurance told me it's a total loss, and as much as I really want to repair it I don't have the funds. I'm not even sure if that guy has insurance still or if his insurance is a garbage insurance. Sad thing is, I was going to install my Aspec Lip the next morning.. But anyway here are pics from the accident.
My TL:

My neighbor's TL:

My neighbor got the worst part of the damage, having his exhaust hang off like that and his wheel turned a different direction was just unbearable to look at.
I really hate Camry's, Hyundai's, Prius's, and Scion's.

Yours will be totaled as you have significant suspension damage as well as airbag deployment and the body damage, so it's very likely to exceed $10K to fix it all. It's sad, but I checked my car's value on KBB last night, and it's only $14300 private party and $12300 trade in (06 Navi with 90,000 miles). Our cars are getting older, so with collision damage, there's a much greater chance of the cars being totaled vs when they were newer. Having said that, I'm sorry for your loss. Even if the driver who hit you has substandard insurance, do you have the under/uninsured motorist coverage? That would apply here, and your insurance could go after the other driver's company for reimbursement.
If there's any upside, you can always scope out a newer 3G TL to replace yours. There's plenty around and you can get something with comparable (or maybe lower) overall mileage.
Sorry and good hunting...

This! The good thing about TLs is that they are a dime a dozen. Sorry to see this happen but at least no one was hurt. Hopefully the Camry owner has the proper insurance to replace both of your cars.
Jeez, it must be accident month or something. I bet the guy with the "heart problems" is taking meds that make him drowsy. Just glad no one was hurt from the drivers "unconsciousness." Not one but two TL's lost on that day.
Hope you the best in all this and finding another set of wheels.

It is a total loss, the value to fix exceeded the amount its worth. The value of mine was 12k as said by insurance, and he has Farmers insurance but my insurance said they don't know if his insurance wants to be liable for this, I haven't gotten a call from them yet and I will be calling after this.
BTW, it's two camrys and two TL's.
The 2-door solara is a camry in a 2 door.

Ouch, sorry to see. Not sure why you said this though:

This means you hate your mom's IS300, assuming it's hers.
It happened in Union City, borderline Fremont.
That sucks dude. I know how you feel, I was in the barracks on Lejeune when my friend knocked on my door and said my car was on fire. I went down to see the FD tearing my hood off with an axe and pumping my interior full of foam... But in the end it worked out, I found an 04 6MT Aspec with 32K miles on it. Why dont you use the insurance $$$ to fix up the IS300? I believe you can fit a 2JZ turbo in that bitch right?
To the OP...since the other driver's insurance may not want to pay...
- don't deal with them directly. Your car got hit while parked, making it clearly the driver of the Camry's fault. Get your own insurance to act as your agent, have them cut you a check to replace your TL, and let them go after the other company for reimbursement. Also, threaten to lawyer up if you don't get any satisfaction with the other insurance company. It's insane that they would indicate they might not be responsible for the damage the driver did.

... And here we go with the insurance miths that always come with accident threads.
Their company can not deny the claim, their insured is at fault, even if it was a heart or medical issue. If for any reason they are saying this then use your own insurance and let the companies hash it out. But you will owe your deductible unless the other company decides to front it. The only way I could see the other persons coverage not cover it is if you were not parked in a legal spot... which it looks like you were.

OP it'll all work out.
The dude smashed into a couple of cars. He's at fault, no doubt about it.

Sorry about the bad news. That's rough to look at.
Thanks for your military service.
