2 Recalls on TL?

Apologize if this has been mentioned before. I called Acura to make a appointment for a Oil Change and Service guy said " Oh, You have 2 Recalls on your car" 1 of the recalls is the Fuse Box, which I think has been been mentioned before. 2nd was the Temperature something? I forgot.

Could someone please tell me what are the problems or give me the link to the Forum if posted before.

Thank you

You must have a 2005 TL as that is the model year that had the fuse box safety recall. There are no other recalls on the 2005 TL. There ARE TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) on the 2004 and 2005 TLs. A complete list is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...55&postcount=1

In general, if you want to find out about recalls/TSBs, just click on the "3G Garage" link at the top of the main 3G TL forum page.

Here is a letter i recieved a few months ago, have not had time to take it in...

Prouduct Update Outside Ait Temperature Displays Three Dashes (---), or Intermittent Dead Battery

Dear TL owner:

What is the problem?
The navigation display may continue to draw to much power after the vehicle has been turned off, resulting in the outside ait tempture (OTA) guage reading three dashes and/or a dead battery. (Normally, the OTA reads three dashes only if the ambient temperature exceeds 113 F.)

What should you do?
Call any authorized acura dealer, and make an appointment to have your vehicle updated. Please plan to leave your vehicle at the dealer for half a day to allow them flexibility in scheduling.

What to do if you feel this notice is in error.
Our records show that you are the current owner or lessee of a 2005 TL involved in this product update. If this is not the case, or the name, address information is incorrect, please fill out and return the included, postage-paid information Change Card. We will then update our records.

If you have questions.
If you have questions about this notice, or need assistance with contacting Acure dealer, Please call Acure Client Services at (800) 382-2238.

We apologize for any inconvenience this product may cause you.
Sincerely,
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

The recalls or 'product updates' they sometimes like to call them are VIN specific more than model year specific. In other words, the parts in question may have only been installed in a portion of the model year units, or in some cases, bridges over the model years in the assembly plant.

Check with your service rep, based on your VIN. Generic recall notices may not apply to your specific vehicle.

BTW, my temp gauge never flatlined, but while I had my TL in for A1 Service, they performed the 'product update' to correct this issue anyway. As it turned out, I got the notice in the mail 2 weeks later, and my VIN was in the range. I thank my advisor for saving me that return trip.

Here is a copy of the Product Update Letter for the temperature display. Notice it is not a recall but a product update.

I don't know if your vehicle is affected, but you can check with the service manager.

So what did they replace? I don't want to take my car in for fear they are gonna take my dash apart and screw something up. Seems you always leave with more problems than you went in with.

I cannot find the "3G Garage" link. Can you point me to it? I bet there's some good stuff there. Sorry if this is a silly question -- not obvious to me.

Thanks,

Dennis

I do not know the part exactly, but I would assume some module. They did remove the console, which I would not have known if they did not tell me.

While we're on the subject of recalls, any of you 06 owners get the one for The Right Front Impact Sensor Loose? Service Bulletin 05-043 was released on Nov 4, 2005 and applies to 2006 TL – From VIN 19UUA6...6A000626 thru 19UUA6...6A001224. Here are some particulars:

BACKGROUND
On some 2006 TLs, the bolts on the right (passenger’s side) front impact sensor were not properly torqued. If the bolts loosen or fall out, the sensor may fail to properly detect a crash, possibly resulting in delayed or non-deployment of the passenger's airbag.

CLIENT NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this campaign. An example of the client notification is at the end of this service bulletin. Only about 80 vehicles within the VIN range are affected. Before beginning work, verify vehicle eligibility by checking at least one of these items:
• The client has a notification letter.
• The vehicle is shown on your campaign
responsibility report.
• The vehicle is shown as eligible on a VIN status inquiry. In addition to these verification items, check for a punch mark above the first character of the engine compartment VIN. A punch mark in that location means the bolts on the right front impact sensor have already been retightened. Some vehicles affected by this campaign may be in your new vehicle inventory. According to federal law, these vehicles cannot be sold or leased until they are repaired. To see if a vehicle is affected by this campaign, do a VIN status inquiry before selling it.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Retighten the right (passenger’s side) front impact sensor bolts to the correct torque.

WARRANTY CLAIM INFORMATION
Operation Number: 7520A4
Flat Rate Time: 0.6 hours
Failed Part: P/N 77930-SEP-A12
Defect Code: 5FT00
Symptom Code: Q000
Template ID: 05-043A
Skill Level: Repair Technician

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. To keep the front airbags from deploying, turn the ignition switch off, remove the key, and wait at least 3 minutes.
2. Remove the front bumper. Refer to page 20-124 of the 2004–06 TL Service Manual.
3. Disconnect the 2P connector from the right (passenger’s side) front impact sensor.
4. Using a Torx T30 bit, loosen the sensor’s two Torx bolts to see if they are cross-threaded.
5. Hold the sensor tight against its bracket while you torque the Torx bolts to 9.8 N.m (7.2 lb-ft).
6. Reconnect the sensor’s 2P connector.
7. Reinstall the front bumper.
8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and watch the SRS indicator.
• If the indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off, go to step 9.
• If the indicator comes on but doesn’t go off, troubleshoot the SRS for other possible problems, then go to step 9.
9. Center-punch a completion mark above the first character of the engine compartment VIN.
