'07 Type S high mileage
Hey everyone! Great info in this forum! I'm looking for opinions on a possible purchase for $18k of a 2007 Type S/ ASP/ black interior/ AT/ with 108,500 miles from one owner who bought the car in 2006. I love these cars! I've been looking for one for months and in Ohio the Type S's DO NOT sit around long. I know the mileage is high, but it's going to be my wife's and she put 63k on her present car in 7.5 years. What might be some things to look out for? Thanks for any and all input!
I thought it was a bit steep too, but kbb has it around $20,600 & edmonds.com at $21,400. They are asking $17,400 so I figured after negociating and TTL it will be closer to $18k. When I find one around here they usually have low mileage (around 35k-46k) and they're going for $24k-$26. They said they will change the battery and detail it. I have 2 Honda Accords and if the TL is anything as reliable as the Honda the high mielage doesn't really concern me, especially considering those are more than likely all highway miles. The carfax shows all regular maintanence was done at the same location. What do you guys think would be a fair price for this high mileage car?
doubt the mileage will be an issue as long as all the service is up to date, and the timing belt has been changed. if not get them to either do the timing belt before u take delivery of the car OR take a grand off the asking price

Thanks again to everyone that has replied to this post! I did test drive the car today, and it was AMAZING!!!! No sounds, idle was nice and smooth. I surprised them by showing up alone and the car was being looked at because it showed some codes that were not reset from '07 & '09. The thing was filthy too! So now the wife and I are going to go drive it again and see if they got ahold of the original owner. They tried earlier to see if the timing belt was changed. I'm sure it was because the original owner took very good care of this car.
Personally, I would never spend 18K on a car with 108K on it, I've seen 08 base models with 35K miles for 19K in NY. I know its a type S and all but I would much rather have a nice base model with low miles. Just my 2 cents.
The timing belt has been changed at 100k. Plus the original owner had $3000 worth of stuff done to it recently (this is all according to the salesman). Is it possible to try to contact the dealership that maintained the car since it was new to see what that $ was used for, and if the timing belt was really changed? Because there are NO mods to this car at all. I've seen the carfax and I don't see anything on there that would have cost the owner that kind of dough NOR anything about the timing belt. Besides that...my wife really liked the car, also. She is concerned about the high mileage and about all the gadgets (such as Navi, etc.), and about the cost/frequency of repairs for these cars.
dont worry about the electronics. those usually fail over time, not mileage. its still only a 2007 car after all. all the electronics on 3g TL's are pretty solid except for the navi and the bluetooth but only a few people have had problems.
ok thanx for the info and advise
Well I am (my wife actually) a new and true member of the Acura TL Type S Club! If there is such a thing. We got it for $17,482.32 out the door. I was able to get in contact with the service dept. that did all the work on this car in the past. It has been well maintained. The last time it was in at 104k miles they adjusted the valves, replaced the water pump, changed the spark plugs, changed the timing belt and tensioner, new coolant, and all four new tires. I'll take some pics and post them soon. Thanks for everyone's help!
