07 camry knock off from tl?

i dont know about you guys but i think the the 07 camry is really desperate for some sales...looks really close to being a tl. the interior looks almost exactly and the SE model has a very similar body to our A-spec...wat a cheap knock off

Yes it does. Toyota knows a good thing when they see it. Unfortunately I bet they get nicer leather than we do.

Dude, the Camry doesn't look nothing like a TL. The TL is more athlethic with clean extruded surfaces. The Camry is a bit doughy with softer forms and a little bit blotted in section. There is a lot more curves in the lines and section than the TL. The TL is straight forward and clean with shear section and tighter lines. Although not my cup of tea the new Camry is way better than the previous model. I actually like and would feel offended owning one (not that I will)

That's your opinion. I thought the same thing a first glance but when I looked closer it does look like Toyota implemented some styling cues from one of the best selling Acura's. Look at the headlights they slightly ressemble the TL's with a sharp look instead of the bubbles they use to have. Look at the dash it looks like the TL's with the same Navi and Radio layout and same vents dashboard design. The body kit looks similar to that of the A-spec. The Camry is now larger and has a more squared off design like the TL compared to last years rounded body style. No it doesn't look exact but I will be damned if it doesn't have a lot of the same characteristics.

IMO - I still think it looks very Toyota-ish and nothing like the Acura. However, IMO, I think it does look a lot like a Corolla all-grown-up...but not an Acura. To me, it's all Camry.

But again, just my opinion.

IMO, interior is very similar, but the exterior looks much more like an accord.

So the Camry is the number one selling sedan in the United States, so desperation probably did not force them to copy the TL.

I agree that the interior looks SOMEWHAT like the TL cockpit, but come on. You have a steering wheel, seat, pedals, and a NAV. Its not like they can put the steering wheel in the center and the seat in the trunk. There are only so many ways to arrange this stuff before they all start looking the same.

I think its an ugly car, and I don't think my TL is, so I am hard pressed to find similarities between the two cars.

Happy driving!

Steve

Well, I doubt the best selling car in America is desperate for sales, and I don't think the Camry looks like the TL. But hey, looks are subjective, right?

the bottom line is.....

with that last gen ugly/whimpy thing, they managed to be #1 selling (no style in/out, power or handling). this gen will do much better and continue to kick everyone's butt if the price is not crazy. toyota's got a winning formula to make $$$ that nobody can match. they target general buyers very successfully. other car companies need to learn how to brain-wash people like Toyota did. they believe building quality cars is the most important thing to most people and they were right.

mad HP/engineering sells....only to hp crazy people. the good quality image sells to most classes and car igonrant people (no disrespect. we have a lot of them in this world). they don't have to concentrate on making new fancy things. with their "quality" formula as their strong point, all they have to do is just to keep up with the rest of the departments.

noticed they rarely mess around with their HP numbers like Nissan does (always tried to tweak a few more peak HP to trump everyone else in the same class on paper). they keep the same engine lines for years to keep it stream line/lower costs. that's why the 3.5 is now in all the cars and trucks now (it makes sense). toyota goes....it is what it is. high/low/whimpy/you trump me???...we don't care. we make more $$$ ha ha. they may not have the car "I" want. but wouldn't you want to be in their position when you are in the business for $$$? i know i would...

I see it more like a cheaper version of the new Lexus IS, especially from the rear ... But nice design job though, it looks about 1 or 2 year younger than the 06 Camry lol
