04? I guess the original owner or dealer "should" already update all teh necessary or safety TSBs into that car. Plus, that car "should" have TU2 EL42s tires.

-The earlier ones had trasmission related TSB.
-Lossy memory seat setting is another one.

Technical Service Bulletin. All dealers should be aware of them.

You may want to check the 3G Garage, a stickied post at the top of the page. It lists all known issues with the 2004 TL. The primary issues are as listed above. Some people have had more issues than others. I'm one of those who's had only minor issues.

1ST TIMER
I think when they are talking about transmissions they are talking Generation 2 from 99 to 03 which I believe almost have 100% failure at some point. Although there was a recall early on I think that has run its course.

The general consensus on this forum is that 04-06 automatic transmissions are weak/delicate. It also doesn't help that fraction of all owners actually change their tranny fluid regularly, have changed their pressure switches, trans filter, etc.

It's really hit or miss. Personally, I wouldn't risk it unless the mileage was under 100k. Getting a tranny rebuilt on a high mileage 04 will likely cost just as much as the car is worth in the first place.

I do not believe there is any such a thing as a 2004 TL from Japan. You're better off with a 2006-2007 transmission from a North American Accord V6 (often referred to as an AV6 transmission), the tag on those transmissions is BAYA.
