Hi guys, I have a 2004 tl 6sp aspec 100% stock. My friend was telling me about a BMW that a mutual friend has and it got me thinking. I was wondering how you guys thought I would fend against a 2000 540I (my friend wasn't sure which year it was). The race would be from a roll probably 40 mph or so, just looking for some input. Thanks!

Yea, thats what I figured drivers race. I was looking online and those things have a 8 cylinder? I believe his is auto so that should be a help. Ill see if I can get someone to record it too.

 

E39 540is are monsters
282 horsepower @ 5400 RPM
324 lbft of torque @ 3700 RPM.
I think they weigh about 3800 lbs though. 0-60 in 5.5 for the 6spd, probably 5.8 for the auto. If he's MT, you'll lose..but auto should be a good race.

I'd say the outcome depends on you - your shifting skill. For your friend obviously all he has to do is floor it and the car will do the rest for him.
