This may sound like a noobish question, but the 04-06's I believe were advertised to have 270HP, and now the 07-08's are showing 258HP.

I'm guessing the 270 # is not at the crank but the 258 is?

the way HP was determined changed after 06 so the newer TLs arnt slower, jus the way they determined HP is different so it now says 258 instead of 270. engine size is the same

 

the ratings that the gov't supplied for horsepower testing changed. Before manufacturers used to run the car motor with no headers or low oil to boost power. Then the SAE changed that so the power dropped.

so they are basicly the same power cars? Did anyone dyno their stock 04-06? What would wheel hp be compared to 07-08? non type s offcourse and 6MT?

 

The non-type S engine is exactly the same from MY 2004 through 2008. No changes to reduce or increase HP.

 

2004-2008 base models all have the same hp. done and done.
