03 tls vs 03 tls
03 tls vs 03 tls
today on the way to work im just cruisin cuttin in and out of traffic. I see a ssm tls with paper tags, dont really think nothing of it, as im cuttin in and out of traffic i notice the other tl doing the same. So im thinkin he wants to fuck around, im heading on the 826....this other man speeds up about 5 cars in front of me then gets on the 826 also...we line up @ about 40 as we're coming out the turn we both punch it @ the same time....instantly i pull about a half car....i hear his intake screaming....all the way to 130 by that time i had 4 cars on him....i get off at my exit. He starts following me pulls up to the same gas station as me and says what i have. I pop the hood and all he see is an intake. Go over to his car and he does the same. Both cars with intakes. "How the hell did i just pull on him like that ?" I wuz like "idk....maybe u dont know how 2 drive." By the way i turned vsa off before i got on the 826.
first race in my new tls after getting the other 1 totaled. Now im happy.

I think that guy had the "Type S" badge mod....
Odd that if you guys had the same mod that you'd pull 4 cars on him.
he shifted before redline in 3rd. i'm sure most of you have experienced the power lag when hitting 4th if 3rd hasn't been brought to ~7000... if he was shifting at 6400 or something, I think that'd be the answer

several factors: dirty filter, fuel octane, quality, ac off or on, windows open? size of wheels, weight in general, the list just goes on and on... most likely, if it had paper tags, they were NOT familiar with the vehicle.

that's exactly why i was sayin it could be a driver issue.
My guess would be that someone has taken better care of their car than someone else, (the issues of buying a used car), but even more likely is that since he had paper tags, he probably isnt that used to it. I've learned that I leave it in D5 out of second gear, because I feel like my tranny does a better job of holding 2nd than I can (I always shift to early, or wait too long and hit the lim), but then I switch to SS for 3rd. He couldve just been in SS the whole time shifting way too early because he just got the car.
Regardless, it's always fun to see TLs around. Over the summer I was driving on I-64 East around Hampton VA, and I saw one 2nd gen TL and one 2nd gen TL-S and we were just playing around for a while. I was the only modded one of the bunch, but it was definitely a fun experience. Its hard finding other TL enthusiasts on the road (and by enthusiasts, I mean people who DRIVE their car). Coming down I64 West around a year ago, I saw some guy in a 3rd gen with HU tags and we let it rip in that devestatingly boring gap between richmond and williamsburg. Always fun
