RLX Warning Lights
RLX Warning Lights
I have a 2017 RLX Hybrid. Had it close to a year now with no issues. Recently the warning lights (Collision Mitigation /Forward Collision/Lane Departure/Lane Keeping Assist/Adaptive Cruise Control) come on when I start the car, but it happens at random. It will go a few days with no issues and then pop up again. I can cut the car off then restart it and the warning lights go away most times. Took it to the dealership and they said it might have been that the camera was being block due to a possible dirt on the windshield. Drove the car a couple a days with the windshield nice and clean. Still getting the same problem when I start it sometimes. Any suggestions on the possible issue would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with my 2014 RLX when I first bought it. The car had sat on the lot for a long time and the battery (the 12V battery not the hybrid battery) was weak. The first time it happened, they tested the battery and said it was ok, but the next day the same thing happened, so they replaced the 12v battery and did a full diagnostic on the charging system and the problem was solved.
This has been stated before, but the RLX is not selling well, so many units sit on the lot for a long time so normal parasitic loss can drain the battery. When the 12V battery is weak or otherwise compromised and you try to start the car, the car will throw up a bunch of warnings in a Christmas tree of lights which I believe is the car telling you that all of those systems just aren't getting the power they require. Many similar occurrences have been remedied by a new battery, but obviously a full diagnostic of all systems should be performed to rule out any other problems.
Good luck - I hope it is something as simple as the battery.

Very easy to test. grab a multimeter

You are absolutely correct. You must be a long-time Honda-Acura buyer.
I have had to machine break rotors on every Honda i’ve owned within the first 15k miles of being brand new. I use Honda as the general label because Acura has not built anything completely unique since the second gen Legends.
Anyways. Keep something like a Genius or C-TEK battery conditioner on your vehicles if they sit OR periodically place them on the vehicle to “recondition” the battery. This should prevent these spurious alarms and lit annunciators from coming in.

I just had to replace another battery on my 2014 that had only had the battery replaced 5 months earlier?? I had a full diagnostic of charging circuit run at my Acura dealer as I thought it might be the "battery sensor" and they confirmed that was the problem. Once sensor gets " flakey" it doesn't send appropriate voltage to alternator to increase voltage output. this resulted in the battery being on the low end of voltage or undercharged and each time I tried starting car it was barely able to crank the starter fully for ignition. I sense most cars now have this battery sensor approach in their charging circuits to gain every advantage to increase fuel economy. As a result of having a marginal CCA rated battery size to begin with there isn't much margin for error when battery sensor begins to deteriorate.. My 2014 Advance only has 58K miles and I am on my 5th battery with the low driven miles during the pandemic contributing to this issue as well. I'm curious if others have replaced their battery sensors ( it sits on the ground terminal of the battery with a cable connecting to the alternator) when they replaced their batteries?? When I asked my dealer that question he stated it is not regularly replaced with battery replacement which sounded kind of strange to me as many batteries apparently have been replaced under warranty. in reading many posts on this subject in this forum....... Sorry for the long post, but thought it might provide "food for thought" for those dealing with battery problems on their vehicles. Demosan
check cameras and radar (if the rlx has one). my wife's bmw had a chrome license plate frame on the front and it was just enough to block the front radar which caused all sort of issues related to the collision avoidance systems. Removed the frame and all issues went away.

Like many people have said a 12V battery not performing at 100% can cause the dash to light up like a Christmas tree. The other thing I just found out thanks to TSX69 was that storing your fob near/in the car can cause battery draining/lifespan issues.
