Little red Light - not again

I finally asked my service writer to check into why my Acura Link light turns red sometimes. The tech tried a software update but it would not complete. The unit is now going to be replaced - under warranty - but part cost is $2100. Ouch. Anyway, that is how this saga has turned out, 2 yrs later.

I have recently started to see a red light intermittently. I haven't tried to use Acura Link with the red light on. My question, does the red light indicate that the Acura Link will not connect or is it just an annoying red light?

I seem to remember that the red light stayed on even when the connection was fine.

The red light indicates you have a very poor, or no, signal. Mine ('14 MDX) was intermittent red and the dealer replaced the Acura Link unit thinking the unit was bad, and the red light went solid and stayed that way. Finally, the dealer replaced the wiring harness and the light has remained green for almost two months with no issues.

You can quickly test the unit - press and hold the HANG-UP/BACK button for more than 5 seconds, and self-diagnostic function begins. You will get a voice response with the results of the test.

Thanks, I'll give the self-diagnostic a try.

My AcuraLink light has gone red and remained steady red.

I still get cellular traffic, and I can still connect to the operator and the server.

I suppose that people must be right, then, when they say that the red light usually means a missing GPS signal.

So we should look after this, because it probably affects that most vital, mission critical of AcuraLink services, the ability to locate your car automatically in the event of an airbag deployment.

On my 2015 RLX it was green for the first 10 min, and it would change to red and stay red until i restarted the car. Then it would repeat.....
One time it just happened that i did not drive the car for a week, and i got the message from AcuraLink that the car went into Low Power mode. After that the light would stay green all the time.....hmmmmmm. I think if you were to disconnect the negative pole on the battery for a few seconds, it would do the same......

On my 2016 it is always green.....

Nothing of note showed up in the diagnosis messages. There were five notes and the most recent one was over 9 months old so the red light didn't generate a code. Since I ran the diagnosis the light has not turned red. When it does I will try a call to Acura Link and see if the calls goes through and if they can locate the cars location.

Same thing's happened to me. Now the light's green and the audio report says the unit's working fine.
