Does anyone change their oil?

I've been doing my own synthetic oil changes for my 04 TL and 14 MDX for more than 2 years now. With my new RLX at 40% oil life, I decided to put my favorite mobil 1 synthetic in the car.

Here and there I get a mess of oil when taking out the oil pan plug. I did some searching and found the Fumoto drain plugs. I just bought myself a pair for my new RLX and MDX.

https://www.qwikvalve.com/fumoto-val...-14mm-1-5.html

Unfortunately, due to the plug being recessed in nearly all the Acura vehicles, I had to buy the extension adapter. I don't like the idea of having the plug extended, but we don't take our Acura vehicles off-road so the chance of anything happening is nearly zero.

I should get them before the weekend, and I'll post pictures and my experience with them.

While I'm on the subject, is there anyone with experience lifting the car able to provide me pictures or details on jacking points of the car for the front and rear? I'm sure I can find it but I wouldn't mind some official documentation.

I have had a Fumoto valve on the S2000 for over 10 years, highly recommended. I would like to see a picture with the extension installed on the RLX.

The thin blue line shows the location of the drain plug.

No need for stands as access is fine if the wheels are turned to the right.

I was surprised when I found out where the filter hoses go.

My RLX came with 4 years of no charge maintenance (I'm assuming all RLX's do no?) - so what is the incentive to do it yourself and incur the work and expense?

I just had my B1 service performed today, along with a transmission oil change - free of charge....

Acura does not offer free maintenance. Some dealers build it into the selling price. Pay me now or pay me later.

Perhaps it was only offered in Canada then? This wasn't a dealer add-on - it's a program through Acura Canada tied to the in-service date with the factory warranty. Google "Acura RLX no charge maintenance Canada" and you can see details of the program in Acura's Complimentary Maintenance Brochure.

Installation went without a hitch. The parts are solid and I have no doubt these will outlast the car.

Of course, this installation was simply installing the adapter and valve after emptying the oil pan. I will update again when I have to do an oil change.

Don't worry, my daily commute is 96 miles for the time being... I'll get there in no time
