Ventilated Seats

Anyone else experiencing problems with their ventilated seats? I can hear the fans whirring, but on high on the driver's side I can barely feel any cooling. On medium or low I can feel nothing. On the passenger side it doesn't matter the setting, I can't feel anything (but again I hear the fan whirring).

My experience has been that they are VERY disappointingly weak

Well at least its not just me. I wonder if there's anything Acura can do to address this issue.

I've never been very impressed by ventilated seats. Granted it was in a Kia Soul and a Hyundai Elantra but still.

Next time I'm shopping for cars I'm going to try to get one with actual cooled seats, where the AC is routed through the seat rather than just ventilated. I think that would make a significant difference. With ventilated, I've heard that if you turn the AC on the floor setting, or at least Bi-level, that they work better since some pull air from the floor. Maybe give that a try and see if it works better.

The fans pull air from seating position through the perforated seats. You would think they would work better if they blew air out instead. Your clothing etc block the vents holes. Almost wonder if the fans are wired backwards...

I test drove for an extended time a Kia Stinger with ventilated (not cooled) seats. They were very strong and noticeable and made a big difference. The RDX has a very weak implementation IMO. Probably my biggest disappointment in the car so far (which I guess, all things considered, makes me lucky!)

The RDX I test drove did not have them, but I sat in an Advance on the lot and tried them out before purchase. The ones I tested worked ALOT better than mine. Also, the sales person told me that the RDX's ventilated seats did not blow through the holes because they were blocked by the passenger, but instead from the crease between the cushion and backrest. Regardless, the ones on my model are terrible.

My Hyundai Sonata has tremendous ventilated seats that you can actually feel. I don't like the reverse function of drawing air away from me... I want it to blow on me

My dealer called and told me my seats work as designed and then confirmed that they do indeed suck air in (as opposed to what the sales guy told me). He could not explain why the passenger seat worked worse than the driver.

I am really not clear how drawing air into a seat you are sitting on is supposed to cool you off. After I pick my car up (it's in because the infotainment system froze up yesterday), I will try to levitate above my seat and see how they feel that way.

Anybody know what the design idea was based on?

Moving air will have more of a cooling effect than still air.

Mine work well enough. I can feel the effect and doubt I'll ever have it set on the highest level. The passenger side must be working as well because my wife doesn't like it.

Does everyone else's ventilated seats turn on full blast on BOTH SEATS when you first turn car on? Mine does this most of the time, and I'd like to find a way for it to stop...especially since there's usually nobody in the passenger seat.

Sounds like you have the heated/cooled seat selector set to 'AUTO'. Try turning that off and see what happens.

Mine turns both seat vents on max when I remote start it from the AcuraLink app, but not when I start it normally. I haven't tried remote starting it from the fob yet.

I'm missing the seat sensors that the TLX has where you can leave the passenger seat in AUTO and they will only turn on when an occupant is detected.

That would sure make sense.

I am quite pleased with the effectiveness of the ventilated seat on my Advance.

With so many complaints from all Acuras with ventilated seats, I wonder why we've never seen anyone trying to modify the seats with better fans, or reserve the fans, or do anything at all to improve the seats.
