Question Headlight won't Turn Off

Hi guys, this morning around 8 am, well sunny day with direct sunshine on the car, the Jewel Eye headlight stays on. I turned the switch to OFF and headlight just won't turn off.
I can't upload video here so posted 2 snapshots below. As you can see the switch is on OFF but both headlight and fog light (which I believe it only turns on with the headlights are on) still indicated on at right bottom corner. I tried this multiple times, while "P" gear, and also shut engine and restarted, it just won't turned off.
The only way I turned it off is when switching to tail lights (the 2nd photo below).

Have you guys ran into this situation? My previous car is TSX 2009 which I drove for almost 10 years (so impressed by "Japanese assembled" btw, as it never had any glitch/issues, even after I parked it outside in -40C for half year, then just jump started it and drove 1,000 km back home), so I'm not sure if this is some common feature or new design that Acura added. Btw, the headlight switch here doesn't stay on "OFF" either, guessing this is new? The other day at night, I turned it to OFF, and the nob turns back to AUTO the moment I release it, the headlights did go off thought.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge, guys.

Not normal...OFF is OFF and mine does not, on its own, go back to AUTO. May be a defective switch...time to visit the dealer!

Yeah sounds like the switch is bad or the clock spring. Just take it in.

The switch does not stay in off, that is correct operation. See page 186 of the manual, but I am pasting the information here also.

Thanks, Billy.
Yeah, I dig & downloaded this manual and found this later that day too. I did read this page quite a few times just to make sure I interpreted it right. This is the 1st time I ran into switch that does not stay OFF and not allowing turning off headlights while driving. I can only see this as a safety design that force any moving car without lights, just hoping the car in front of me won't get annoyed.
Btw, I have been noticing some small details (stitching, door rubber alignments etc.) are not as excellent as the 2009 TSX. Guess I've been spoiled by my previous experience with Acura and can't have everything now (excellent quality, reliable performance and good price)

Wow, this is kinda weird. I did find the manual seems saying it is designed in the way and that it does not stay in OFF. But yours do?

I'll have to check it out again...this is the wife's drive and she didn't mention about this being any different than her last car that held its position. May be my bad but I have never seen a switch that is momentary for AUTO headlights.

When I rotate my headlight switch to 'off' (as I do after pulling into the garage rather than leaving the lights on when not needed) it will turn the headlights off and the switch will return to the 'auto' position.

My TLX was just the same. Off is momentary.

I think it sounds the same as my TLX and I actually kinda wish more cars were like this... It does make it impossible to drive the car in low light (or low visibility situations) with daytime running lights only... no rear lights at all. This is an epidemic around here at least, people driving down the highway with nothing but drls. they tend to be driving slowly (is it because they can’t see very far?) and you can come up behind them quite close before you see reflectors etc. It isn’t as bad in the city with streetlights, but still not good.

But having said that, I have wished for a way to turn headlights off because I have no way to signal to these people they don’t have their lights on.

Can't seem to find a way to turn off headlights while in motion - Is there any work around for this? I'd like to be able to turn my headlights off when I back into my driveway, prefer not to illuminate my neighbor's house when I get home at night. 2021 A-Spec

Right, it spring returns to auto. Why not just usw the parking lamps then?

Yes that would be nice to have that option. BUT at night, when the car is in motion, the headlights will not turn off. Or at least I can't figure out how

Well color me impressed. I'll have to check this out later. I get what you're trying to do but I see too many idiots driving without lights on at night.

Ok I'm an idiot as if you didn't already know. Turning the knob one click *the other way* turns the headlights off leaving only the parking lights just as you told me. Sorry NastyNick4553

Haha, I don't think you're an idiot man. That's what were here for, right? I'm glad you figured it out. Be safe out there!
