Auto High Beam Not As Advertised

Auto High Beam Not As Advertised
Just picked up 2019 Tech. Dealer delivery specialist was not so special in describing features of the car and did not even know about the auto high beam feature. Well, while driving home, the car decided to turn on the high beams and totally freaked us out since we did not touch anything to make it go on. Cars in front of us on the single lane road must have thought we were impatient A-holes (I am sometimes, but this is wife's car and she was not happy). Lights were in "auto" mode, and until the high beams went on, it was behaving exactly like our 2016 RDX (lease swapped for 2019). After getting home and reading the manual, it actually described quite well the event and how to disable the "feature", which we immediately did. However, it also detailed that this auto high beam was not supposed to work unless over 45 mph and we were doing 30 at the time. That is a failure of spec in my estimation.
Anyone else have this happen to them? Page 36-37 in the owner manual describes the feature and how to disable.

From the owner's manual:
■The headlight switch is in AUTO.
■The lever is in the low beam position.
■The low beams are on and the system recognizes that you are driving at night.
■The vehicle speed is above 25 mph (40 km/h).
There is definitely a discrepancy between the two publications though and looks like the owner's guide is incorrect.
Edit: See this in the "Introduction" section of the owner's guide as to how to order a printed copy of the full manual.
If you are the first registered owner of your vehicle, you may request a
complimentary printed copy of the Owner's Manual, Navigation Manual, or
Vehicle Warranty within the first six months of vehicle purchase. To request
a copy, visit owners.acura.com and create or log in to your account.

Page 191 of the Owners Manual (not the Owners Guide) specifies the minimum speed for operation of the Auto High Beam System as 25 mph - just one of several discrepancies between the two documents.

That appears to be the Owner's Guide you're looking at versus the full Owner's Manual. In the full manual it states the auto high beams will activate at 25 MPH and above.

Because it only comes with an abbreviated printed Owner's Guide - the full printed Owner's Manual has be to acquired after the fact.

i have had the auto-high beam symbol come on twice now on its own in the past four months...without even activating it using the high beam lever sequence as per the owner's manual. Both times I have had to disable the feature to turn it off.

Sounds like a terrible system....but not as bad as spending 5 figures and not getting a "complete" printed manual upon taking possession of the car. I wonder if Acura could be facing liability issues in the future if they don't provide full and comprehensive manuals...... think of them as "instruction manuals" with lots of safety info.

i was behind a white Audi Q8 (the turn signals are really cool) this evening and my auto high beams went berserk. The driver was really pissed and hit the brakes after the 4th flash. I got flashed by a whole line of cars in the other lane on the two lane blacktop too. Another nail in the coffin of this RDX.

To know your auto lights are on a prompt on dash says auto. As for the quality of type they are much better than our MDX.
